I loved the dirty rice for an appetizer! Very spicy, just my style! The dinner was good but not great. The service was excellent!! I think I'll go back just for the dirty rice! |

Talk about overrated! My wife had crab salad sandwich...mediocre...but great French fries! I had the pot roast dinner...fair. Might as well microwaved a box of Tyson's. Big fuss made by server (who was terrific) about BJ's baked potato... it arrived undercooked and tasteless. Booths were poorly designed as someone thought it would be decorative to have the backs hard as a rock and perfectly vertical. The view: cars passing on the bridge. Our impression is that BJ's serves large portions at relatively cheap prices for the senior crowd. The European Village is falling like a stone in a vacuum as an overpriced, over-hyped gimmick in an ugly location. Restaurants closing, allegedly high-end retail shops displaying clothes racks out front. BJ's will likely survive with their pricing but we'll pass. |

We are snowbirds who visited Palm Coast this past January. We have small children so we wanted to order in one night. So, we ordered a seafood sampler that had fried fish, coconut shrimp and crab cakes, and my husband had the pork chops. The food was excellent and included many great sides and delicious breads. Would highly recommend. |

Just had the crab cakes and they were the best, all crab and only enough filler to hold them together. Will definitely have them again. |

I'm sorry but I thought I would respond to the negative reviews on here. Barbara Jeans food is excellent. I don't think the crab cakes are "small" or are they served in puddles. The portions are quite large and there is never any room for the yummy desserts they have. As far as the rest of the menu goes the food is delicious. I eat there once a week and always try something new. I have not had a disappointing meal there yet. As for the servers, they are extremely friendly and know the menu items well. There is always someone at the door to greet you when you arrive and when you leave there is someone there to say, "Thank you and please come again." If anyone has been there before knows that the Manager/Owner, Chris, is a very outgoing and friendly young man who is always out to do his best to make your dining experience the best it can be, and if it's not, then he will do his best to fix it. As do all the rest of the managers there as well. I'm disappointed that these people gave this restaurant such a bad review because it is truly one of the best we have here in Palm Coast. |

I have to eat at Barbara Jean's at least once a week. If I'm with someone who asks where we should go for lunch, I always suggest Barbara Jean's. My women's group had their Spring luncheon there. The food is great. The decor and ambiance reminds you of a really Southern place. The staff treat you like family. |

We had dinner last night and the service was great. The bartender, Nate, was friendly and keep our drinks full. Our waitress was friendly and knew the menu every well. I had the catfish which was very fresh. Anna, the manager, checked on us several times. I would recommend this place any time. |

The crab cakes were little tan puddles; little filler but even less crab. My wife's upgrade salad appeared to be ok and she said it tasted alright but our vegetables were cold and salty. Speaking of salty, we have never tasted anything quite like this. It was so bad we called the waitress over and asked if there was some mistake with our food, as in, did the cook put too much salt in the food or should it be too much food in the salt? She said no, that was the way they did it at Barbara Jean's. She offered to have the owner speak to us and he said that was the way they cooked there, with lots of salt. I asked him about the runny tasteless crabcakes and the origin of the crab. He said the crab came from Indonesia or "where ever he could get it cheapest". He also said he didn't care if we liked it or not. He's less than a gracious host. Overall the experience was not as advertised on Barbara Jean’s website; "We take great pride in what we do and know that the most important visit we get from you, our customers, is the next one, and we have to earn that today!" It was more like southern hostility than southern hospitality! If you go, avoid the crabcakes and the vegetables. What's left? Maybe that hospitality? Enjoy. |

Family and I went last night. This was my third visit and I am still not impressed. Last time I had the She Crab soup which was cool and full of small bits of crab shell (uck). This time less crab shell, but they're still serving this soup thick, gloppy and lukewarm which is a shame because it could be an excellent soup! As always, the breads are wonderful, hot, flavorful and plentiful, almost a meal unto themselves. We had a crab cake for an appetizer, MUCH improved since I was last here and it was piping hot and delicious. I had fried fish and shrimp - the fish was ok, a nice thick cut, which I liked. The shrimp were limp, warm and drowned in cooking oil, the breading was hard, and they appeared to be flattened after being butterflied. For a seafood restaurant, this was AWFUL, and I was very disappointed. The marmalade is nasty, but the tartar sauce is the best I've had in a long time. I see the waitresses still have 'attitude', although much less so on this visit.
As seafood restaurants go, although ok, this is nothing special, there are far better seafood places right here in Palm Coast, and certainly others not far from here. I don't get the hype either. And the woman's bathroom's location is just creepy! One accidental bump, and the whole restaurant sees everything. |

Dinner last night for six people. Service was very good, all courses were served correctly and timely. Only issue - ALL courses (soup, dinners) were just "warm." Warm soup, warm entrees? What is so difficult in serving hot dinners? Not the first time at this place and definitely not the first time here in Palm Coast. Other than that, restaurant was O.K. |

I went into Barbara Jeans on Sunday and had a GREAT experience. The food was outstanding. I haven't been able to find good Southern cooking in a long time. The chain restaurants seem to be the same to me. I ordered the Pot Roast and my husband had the Meatloaf with Tomato Sauce. My husband got a little upset with me because I kept stealing some of his food. Both of the Entrees were out of this world! They also served us fresh bread. They pumkin spice bread was delicious. I took some home with me for breakfast the next morning :) To top it off, the service was good and the price was just right. Thanks Barbara Jeans. You are my new favorite restaurant. I will be back soon! |

My husband and I were in the restaurant last week at European Village Resort. It is not an upscale dining experience but a nice family restaurant with very good food at reasonable prices, a pleasant atmosphere, and great service. We were eating light so we had the she-crab soup, which was delicious, thick, and seasoned to be slightly spicy hot. We stop there and eat whenever we travel down that way. Their crab cakes are great with little or no filler. Pot roast, chicken fried chicken, and burgers are also highly recommended. The bartender mixes great drinks. |

A filling and enjoyable dinner. They have great pumpkin bread, yum, yum!! It was even hot like it was just baked!!
It somewhat reminds me of a deli atmosphere but very comfortable. Service was good and friendly. Mom ordered the turkey dinner which she enjoyed. My daughter got the chicken tenders which she raved about but later started picking off the breading (just a little over breaded but good chicken).
I had the crab cakes which they're known for and they didn't disappoint. I ordered 2 but could have gotten away with one as they were rather filling but lots of crabmeat and very little filler. I also had the broccoli and rice casserole which my daughter ate most of. It was delicious but since I was getting full I let her have a lot of it.
Considering we were going to go elsewhere in the European Village that had a 1 hr wait I'm glad we decided on Barbara Jeans. It was a nice experience. |

I have been to this place a total of four times since the later part of January for lunch. The food has been excellent each time. Also the service has been great as well! I really could not ask for it to be any better. I read below that some people say the portions are too small... I don't think so! I go with usually four people or so and most of us end up taking home a "doggy bag". If you want big portions than go to a buffet and pig out.
Yes, the place is somewhat small, however I think they made the best of the space to make it seem bigger with the different sections and if you have been in any of the other restaurants in the European Village they have a smaller feel than this one. |

I really don't understand all the hype about this place...its tiny ...and so are the portions. The crab cakes are ok... the "she crab" soup was good but nothing special. I liked the different breads that were served (good baking). The service was quite slow but we will try it again. |

My husband and I had gone to Barbara Jeans 2-3 times, crab cakes were best, sorry I tried the turkey! When I got the portion, it was smaller than a children's size. When I questioned it, I was first told that it wasn't right, then I was brought out an extra small plate with another 2 very small palm sized slices of turkey, as extra for the meal, because apparently their sizes ARE quite small, I was told afterwards. They weren't very friendly either. |

Our first visit to BJ's was wonderful. The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. After the first visit we returned expecting the same but the food nor the service were quite as good as the first time. However, we have recently made our third and last visit to BJ's. We ordered the special which was scallops and they were so "bitter" we could not eat them. When we asked if we could order something else we were not treated with much respect or concern. I hate to send anything back so it has to be bad and it was but our replacement order was not much better and the service was sooooooooo slow. I doubt if we will ever visit them again. Thank goodness there are other restaurants in the European Village which is a delightful place to visit. |

This is my new favorite place to eat. The food is awesome and the pumpkin and wheat rolls are to die for! I'd love to make some of that pumpkin bread at home but they don't have the recipe listed in the recipe book. I didn't give it 5 stars because I was cold and asked two people if they could shut off the ceiling fans with no avail. The portions are huge too! |

Went to Barbara Jean's for Sunday lunch and it was excellent. It was not crowded. The service was perfect and the food great. I just wish it had a more upscale look and I would have added a star. My husband had the special, spicy shrimp Creole, which came with two sides...he chose Cole slaw and corn. He loved it. I had an excellent fish sandwich which was crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. Instead of French Fries, I selected yummy mashed sweet potatoes. I had a drink from the bar which was also wonderful. This is a great place for seafood and we will be back again. |

Went to Barbara Jean's for lunch on 8/19/06 with my husband and Friends. We had an excellent time, and all of the food was great. It came out quickly, perfect to order with absolutely no problems. I had the 5 ounce crab cake and my husband had the fried fish. the squash is the best side they have and the pumpkin bread is addicting.
Our server was a young man named Patrick. He was able to answer every question we had and was extremely funny. He lightened the mood was able to make the experience fun for us. I do not think there is any other server like him, he was even able to bring the owner Chris over to joke around and talk to us.
We had such a great time we will be coming back and I hope every discovers Barbara Jean's. thank you for the great time |

My husband, my sister and I went to Barbara jeans for the first time today (Saturday). Everything was delicious. Our server was attentive and one step ahead of us on refills. He was extremely polite. My husband had the shrimp chowder and the crabcakes. He said crabcakes were the best he had ever had. My sister had pot roast and broccoli and cheese casserole and I had shrimp Creole. It was all wonderful. Their bread pudding is to die for and we plan on going back and taking friends. |

I was there tonight with my daughter, her boyfriend and my husband. My husband and daughters boyfriend had Tonys Plate. Served exactly to order. My daugher had coconut shrimp that she raved about. I had the 1/2 and 1/2 which was 6 pieces of grilled shrimp and salmon. I also had a baked potato and salad. Both of which were EXCELLENT.
Lindsey was our waitress. She could not have been more fun if she tried. Very outgoing and professional and a delight to have with us.
Overall a WONDERFUL dining experience. So much so that I wrote to corporate about it. It was Fabulous. |

I love this place! Been here several times with friends and family, each visit was delightful. The bread basket they serve can be addictive and they're a wonderful start to a meal if you haven't stuffed yourself with them.
The chicken strips appetizer sampler were delicious and more than enough to feed a small army.
I'm a Manhattan clam chowder kind of guy, but they don't serve it and I've never been a big fan of the New England version, but I had a bowl and it was really good. It had a spicy kick to it, I really enjoyed!
The grilled fish was done just right, flaky and moist... and very tasty. |

Went to Barbara Jeans in Palm Coast last night for the first time (been to the one on St. Simon's Island...very good). I tried the crab cakes, delicious!! However, the waitress was completely rude. I asked about putting a different topping on the BJ blue salad, she replied with, "I dunno, this is a new menu," then just stared at me. I actually changed my order since she didn't seem interested in helping me. Then my daughter placed her order -(a simple sandwich) and she stated, "Thank God your are making your order much easier." I was left feeling guilty for asking how the menu worked. As good as the crab cakes were, I probably won't be back any time soon. The waitress proceeded to ignore us the rest of the evening leaving drinks empty and me tracking someone down for the check. |

Have been there twice...once on opening night and then, again, a few weeks ago. I have to say that the food and the prices are pretty good, BUT, the management is not very receptive to customers. My food was served only lukewarm - both times I was there, and, when I told the manager (and stressed NOT looking for money back, just giving feedback so we have more successful restaurants in PC!), I got a "not very interested" attitude. Also, I ordered a martini - weak and watery - and when I asked the bartender about it, he asked if I wanted to watch him make it. I was pretty offended and will never go back there again. The pizza place and martini bar across the way are much more people friendly. |

Service was great, food even better! I had the pork chops that were so tender you didn't need a knife to cut them. The she crab soup was excellent as were the homemade mashed potatoes. Nice atmosphere, comfortable surroundings and conversation didn't need to be shouted above the noise level. Had a taste of the "chocolate stuff" and it was wonderfully rich with plenty of home made whipped cream. We'd go to Barbara Jean's again and again and again! |

My wife and I went to Barbara Jean's in Palm Coast yesterday and it lived up to it's reputation. I had the crab cakes and they ranked with the best that I ever had. The "She Crab" soup was terrific. Spicy, but that is the way I like it. My wife had a delicious NE clam chowder and the fried fish. She said it was done just right. Too much food so she took a whole piece home. We were too full for dessert. Service was great. (maybe too great as food came fast). We were early and had no problem getting in but when we left after 6 it was full. |
