We went for the first time tonight, and will go again. Greeted warmly by an owner, good wait staff, pretty good food (the prime rib and T-bone steak were a bit underdone, but since we always take a lot home and reheat, we don't consider that much of a problem). Scallops were very good. Side salads quite sizable. We brought out of town guests and everyone went home happy. |

I am a little surprised to see some of the ratings under at least 4 stars. I've been their last march for the 3rd time in 3 years and found it excellent each time. I will be back in the area in Feb.and March. I will give it another try. (WILL SEE).
PS. Last time I was with a party of 8 and while waiting at the bar I would rate that a two. See you soon.. |

Three of us went to Martin's recently. I had already eaten and ordered a glass of iced tea. The menu states that you have to order a minimum to stay at the table. The waitress was extremely rude and I had to order an appetizer that I could not eat. Both of my friend's meals were substandard. The restaurant does not appear clean. I will never go back and neither will my friends. |

I have only had the Steak sandwich and Onion Rings. I can't seem to try anything else because the sandwich is so good. I love the sauce that came with the onion rings. I've had a couple of different servers and both were friendly and competent. |

While on vacation in July, my husband, daughter and I were visiting relatives one evening and it was very late, but we had not yet eaten dinner. My 13 month old was sleeping, so we decided we needed to find a take out place which was hard to find at 10pm. We drove by Martins and saw lights still on and people still in he restaurant, so my husband ran in the side door to see if they were still serving. All he saw was some of Flagler's finest sitting around eating.
When he asked if they were still open, the waitress said no, but what would he like to order and she would check with the cook to see if they still could make something to go. I, not know at the time, was getting a stomach virus, so I just wanted soup. Martin's was nice enough to heat me up some creamy clam chowder which was fantastic and the cook grilled some snapper for my husband.
They went above and beyond and we will be sure to visit them on our next trip during Thanksgiving week. I totally recommend Martin's (for takeout anyway). |

I am from Miami and wanted to take my sister and her husband who were visiting St. Augustine somewhere nice to eat. A friend from St. Augustine suggested Martin's and we all went. My friend bragged about the large prime rib so I had not eaten all day. It was fantastic and way to much to finish. The leftovers made a good lunch the next day. My sister and husband ate seafood and would not stop saying how great it was. My friend and husband had the small prime rib which I will have next time. The price of the prime rib was incredibly low and the quality was superb.
We had to wait 30 minutes at the bar. No complaints. I have waited a lot longer for a lot less. The place was packed and the waitress was kept quite busy which meant not the greatest service, but not bad enough to complain. The owner made his rounds and asked if we were satisfied. I will go back!!! I have read some of the bad reviews and cannot believe them. For the price and quality of the food and the view of the ocean, I was impressed. |

Living in Orlando for years we had been meeting friends or family at Martin's since it was a halfway point. The food was always good until we ate there on May 6. First of all the waiter spilled a glass of iced tea in my lap and said absolutely nothing but passed back by our table and threw a stack of napkins on the table without uttering a word. Next I had asked for a rare cut of prime rib but that it be grilled on both sides to medium. The waiter brought it out and I said that it was not grilled at all because it looked raw and he refused to take it back, saying to me, "trust me, it's grilled". My niece's seafood platter, according to the lunch menu, was $6.95 and they charged her $8.45 because she wanted baked potato instead of fries. On top of that she asked me if I wanted her oysters because the first one she tried tasted bad. I smelled the oysters and honestly, they smelled like a septic tank. I called the hostess over who said to me, "you are not the only ones who have complained about the oysters". Upon leaving I asked the waiter to get the manager or owner and when she came out she was very confrontational with me regarding my concerns stating that she would not do anything for us regarding the bill even though my niece's stomach soured after eating the oyster. I said that I had been eating there for years but would never return and she said what ever. The place was a 10 but now is not worth mentioning and I am telling everyone never to eat there. |

We ate here our first night of our stay in Palm Coast. This was a perfect place to go as they seated us upstairs in the corner with a great view of the ocean:-) There were 7 of us, 4 adults and 3 kids. The service was friendly and efficient.
The food was pretty good, not outstanding since it did remind me a bit of diner food. I got the stuffed shrimp which were good but they were cooked in a lot of butter. The asparagus was a nice change for a veggie. Everyone else got mostly grilled shrimp and mahi and they were pretty happy. The kids were happy with their chicken nugget dinners. One of them got fried shrimp and wasn't thrilled with it, but I don't know if he really likes fried shrimp to begin with, LOL!
Overall it was a nice experience, we would return here again if we're ever back in the area. |

Ate at Martin's today around 4:30 p.m. and was the best fried shrimp, baked potato, and slaw that I have had since moving to Flagler County in Dec. My husband had the fried seafood platter and it was also great. The key lime pie some of the best we have had. Our waitress, Colleen, was very attentive and friendly. The view from upstairs was great and the restaurant and restroom was super clean. I was so happy to have finally had a decent meal of seafood--I had expected so much more for Florida since the ocean is right out there! We will definitely be back and will bring guests! |

I have had two dinners at Martins. One was the broiled Surf and Turf and the other the large Prime Rib. Both were excellent. The service was a little slow, but with 180 degree view of the Atlantic ocean just across A1A with nothing blocking the view, along with good cocktail, who cares? Sand on the floor should be expected with the beach being so close. Scoma's, The Palm, Bern's, Galileo's, The Tack Room, etc., it's not, but you are not paying $75-$150 per serving. I look forward to putting on the flip-flops, some old cotton shorts and an acceptable T-shirt and enjoying my next meal here. |

We were a party of 9 people who was seated promptly upstairs at 4:30 PM on a Saturday afternoon. I had ordered the full sized prime rib cooked MEDIUM. There were 2 others in our party that had ordered the same sized prime rib. The piece of meat that was brought to me was horrible. It was charred and was considerably smaller than the others. I spoke to the waitress who immediately called the person in charge to come over to our table (turned out to be one of the owner's). He came over and tried to point out that my piece of meat was indeed the same as the others. Reluctantly, he said that he would bring me another. Much to my surprise he placed the same piece of meat in front of me telling that he put it on the scale and weighed it and did I know how much it weighed. (all the while he was in my face) I told him to never mind and to leave me alone but he didn't stop. My husband tried to tell him that this piece should have never been served, etc. This person took my husbands plate as well as my plate and said " goodbye". We were not allowed to eat. Nothing was done by us to warrant that type of response. We left our family to wait downstairs for the others to finish their meals. I was never treated so rudely in my life. This was our third time there and it will definitely be our last as well as the other 7 people in our party. |

My boyfriend surprised me to go out to dinner. I was driving and he showed me the way. He said pull in here. It was Martin's. We stood there about 5 minutes until someone finally sat us. It took out waitress another 5 minutes to get our drinks. I was in the mood for shrimp scampi and when I ordered she asked if I wanted baked potato or rice (no pasta? I thought to myself), well, think I'll get the stuffed shrimp instead. When our food finally arrived, it was nasty looking it looked like a bowl of mush with shrimp sticking out. We complained to the waitress and did not even get offered any type of discount. My boyfriend ordered the lobster special. He said it was OK. I would never eat there again! The place was not that clean either. The one good thing I can say was the waitress was friendly. |

I am reluctantly writing this review since I already have enough trouble getting a seat. I must believe that after reading some of the reviews, others are thinking the same thing and are writing trying to scare people away. I usually go for lunch which offers great specials at a more than reasonable price (better than the burger joints) and always have excellent service. When we have guests, we always bring them to Martins for the prime rib, which they rave about for years after. We have friends who now bring people over from Orlando for dinner. My wife and I cannot recommend Martins enough, but if you care to go somewhere else, we'll be able to get a seat. Thanks! |

If you like quantity over QUALITY then this is your place. We both ordered the prime rib which was HUGE but TOUGH (even med-rare), tasteless and chewy. The cheap knives they had wouldn't even cut through it! Not to mention everything was cold, YUCK! We were not feeling the atmosphere here either. It was really dingy and run down and the tables were packed in. We will not be back. |

We had a party of three and it was a bit atypical. We weren't really even greeted at the door, one person saw us and just kind of walked us to a table.
The atmosphere or as many on here like to call it..."ambiance"...was not fancy, but it was OK. It's on the beach and was adequate for us. The bread was cold and hard, yet fresh. The salad was a bit tired, but the Prime Rib was excellent and cooked as requested. The service was a bit depressing. When the waitress arrived she was somber and told us all about how her abscessed tooth was bothering her and she didn't feel well. All of the conversation was downhill from there with the waitress.
In conclusion, the food we had was good to excellent. The service and atmosphere was less than good, but not bad enough to not try it again. The prices for what you get was good. |

We were a party of 9 people. Three times we asked for Bread and on the 3rd occasion the waitress rudely yelled, can't you see I'm busy". When the prime rib came to our table, I could not believe my eyes. This was the biggest portion of prime rib I had ever seen, and it was $20. Then after a couple of bites, it was the best prime rib I ever had. The people who complain about the prime rib being “fatty” are the same ones who would complain about barbecue being messy, or about coffee being too hot. Although the salads, rolls and other sides are not five-star, Martin’s does not present itself as an upscale, reservations-only type of place. And as with anything in life, you can always find something to complain about if you wanted to.
As far as the staff goes, everyone was courteous. On my second visit, the owner, who gave us a history of the place on our first visit, recognized us and gave us exceptional service. Other members of our party had the seafood and loved it as much as the steak. If you’re more impressed with decorations & ambience than you are with actual food, then you might be better off paying more money at another place. Martin’s is the best casual steak house I ever ate at. We make it a point to stop by there if we’re anywhere close. I highly recommend this place for those who like steak and like the casual atmosphere. |

Fresh Seafood, Steak, and Cocktails. NOT! My wife and I just arrived into the area and looked forward to our first dinner in the area. We figured that if we headed to the beach, we were sure to find good seafood. After driving for miles on A1A, we stumbled upon Martin's. There were plenty of cars in the parking lot and figured, how bad can it be?
The inside of the restaurant was in need of some maintenance and cleaning. We have eaten in many places where the food shined when the place looked like a dive. Unfortunately, the food matched the decor, TERRIBLE!!!
We ordered a couple of cocktails and the calamari special to start our dinner. Our drinks arrived in small glasses. You know the glasses, they are small and they even have those thick bottoms to make then seem even larger then they are. The calamari was not very special. It was obviously from the freezer with no tentacles and served with pizza sauce ($6.95).
I ordered a porter house steak and my wife ordered Grouper. No Grouper! She ordered scallops instead. The bread arrived and was hot but obviously from a bag with fake poppy seeds and nasty onion flakes. How do you screw up bread?
My steak arrived and although tasty, was under cooked. I was afraid to send it back and ate it anyway. The scallops were obviously from the freezer. They had a slight fishy taste and was not eaten. Both dishes came with a baked potato that was good and a side of asparagus with 'cheese' sauce. The asparagus was served in a "mini" bowl with the vegetable hanging over both edges and a tasteless sauce that had 'broken' and separated.
All I can say is YUK! |

Have been coming to this restaurant for almost 15 years and have been avid regulars of the Filet Mignon's. Prices have seriously increased during this time -- and while the filet's are still good, the rest of the offerings are pitiful. Dinner rolls are not fresh-baked and cold, margarine is used, and sides and salad are entirely too small. Salad should definitely set the pace for the dinners -- so that tells you what to expect. Service is sorely lacking. Servers are not friendly nor do they offer 'service'. Stuffed mushrooms with crab were stuffed, but I never saw any crabmeat! Drinks were small and ice-packed. Coleslaw was not fresh and was watery. Beer was not cold (the one I got) and when I wanted to send it back the waitress was gone for 20 minutes, so I went and got my own as a replacement. Customers around us complained of same types of things and 2 tables (9 people) got up and left and decided not to eat there. We stayed and ate -- and were never even thanked when we left. If this is what 15 years of loyalty gets you -- or the $75 we paid for dinner for two -- then it makes you think hard before wanting to come back. We enjoyed the filets, but the services, appetizers, sides, ambiance and overall feeling was in need of serious overhaul and repair! |

Avoid this place like the PLAQUE! JUST NOT GOOD! Service stinks, food is fair and the place needs to have an inside emergency make over. Salad dressing taste as if they have been watered down and the drinks are small and loaded with ice not cocktail. Lack of caring is very apparent in this establishment. |

My husband and I visited Martins for lunch today and I can safely say it will be the last time. We were to meet friends there and told the hostess that there would possibly be 2 more people joining us. We went ahead and placed our order as the other couple was not sure they could make it for lunch. After ordering the friends arrived and we all had a mediocre lunch. I would not complain about the food as much as I would the server. When she presented the bill it was all on one check. We explained that it was to be separate. She said, "You should have told us. We always make out the bill for the entire group". I said she should have told us that in the beginning. A few harsh words ensued. She accused me of wanting to argue with someone and said she was kind and polite to everyone. She had to be one of the rudest individuals I have ever encountered and I would advise all to steer clear of Martins unless you enjoy being insulted. I have found in the past that the hostess is not a whole barrel of laughs either. |

Let me preface this by saying that my experience was that of a musician playing a private party upstairs and that we were paid by the organizer(s) of the party, NOT Martin's.
I never saw the downstairs area, nor do I even know if the downstairs dining area (if there is one) was open during this event. Nevertheless, I would assume that the food was prepared by the same cook(s) as the orders were taken indivually from the standard menu. The fried shrimp were good and of decent size. The fried scallops were huge and done to perfection. Portions were generous. Only two of the five in our group managed to finish his order. After dinner, when the attention of the party turned more to adult libations, the cash bar provided strong pours in the mixed drinks. The staff was very congenial in dealing with this private party, even when it ran over it's scheduled time by an hour and the aforementioned libations started to affect some of the guests.
As for the carpets being dirty, Martin's is literally less than a stone's throw from the Atlantic Ocean. The parking lot is coquina and sand. Unless the management were to enforce strict Japanese household discipline, i.e. leaving your shoes at the door, there is no way possible the floors would remain clean. I chalk it all up to "charm."
I live approximately 90 minutes from Martin's. I doubt that I would make the drive for the sole purpose of dining there but if I was near the intersection of I95 and SR100 around lunch or dinner time, I'd definitely make the short detour to A1A and give them my business. In this day and age, it's becoming difficult to find decent non-chain places to eat.

We haven't been to Martin's in a long time. It was good when we used to go. This visit was a disaster. The floors and carpets were so very dirty. We had to ask to have someone remove the dropped food from underneath our table. The young man who was asked to do this threw his cloth down and went reluctantly to the back to get a broom. It makes one wonder how clean the kitchen is. In reading the past reviews it seems like others recently have had this experience. The reviews back in June were quite good. Could it be that they have changed hands? I was embarrassed because I brought a friend who had never been there before. The meal was ok, but the dirt all around us took away our appetite. This restaurant is tired and needs a new "do." |

We had to leave! We were walking through the dining room and floors were so dirty we felt it too unappetizing to eat there. If the public areas of a restaurant are kept this way, I only wonder what the areas we don't see are like. The owners/staff obviously have no pride in this restaurant and have little care whether their customers enjoy a clean and pleasant dining environment. |

This is the worst excuse for a restaurant ever! My husband ordered prime rib well done, when he got it was a piece of prime rib FRIED! The baked potatoes come with Margarine, instead of real butter. I ordered the fried seafood platter and everything tasted the same. I asked for drawn butter, and again was given melted margarine. YUK. Not to mention the uncomfortably cold seating upstairs and the nasty dirty ceiling fans and dirty carpeting. This place was disgusting, and over priced. Don't waste your time or money! |

Once again I must echo the sentiments of a man named Ray. This restaurant is apparently conceived and executed for the tourist trade and if you are a local and don't know this, the people who work at Martin's will gladly demonstrate it for you. Starting with the service staff, who are very chummy...with each other. Unless you order the prime rib, which apparently is the only dish whoever is working in the kitchen cares about. Enormous diners regularly arrive so that they can place themselves in front of a slab I am sure they dream about. It overflows the plate and the plate is not modest. As they consume they block out a nice view of the ocean. The location of this restaurant deceives those unfortunate patrons who infer the fish should be good. If you must order fish, try the chicken.

If all you care about is getting full and don't care about quality, this is a great place. Waitress was extremely rude. My wife ordered a shrimp dish and when it was delivered, my wife said it was not what she ordered. The waitress gave her a dirty look, pionted to the shrimp and said, " What's this?" pointing to the small shrimp. Later, after we ate, she admitted it was not what was ordered. We should have left but we ate and left a $0.10 tip. We will never go back! |

Absolutely outstanding! I come from a fishing town on the East coast of the UK but I have never eaten such wonderful seafood and so plentiful too! The deep fried scallops and oysters were so fresh I could still taste the ocean. Cooked to perfection and piping hot, it was wonderful to be able to take almost half of it back to my friends house as there was just too much to eat in one go; simply unheard of in any English restaurant I have ever been too! Service was a little slow at times but the food more than made up for that, and what a location too! |

Probably the worse chopped steak I ever had.
Very dry and no flavor, service was slow.
Would not go back here. |

This used to be a great place to go to eat.The Prime Rib is still outstanding, but I have been very disappointed in the seafood I have recieved the last couple of visits. It is not fresh and it is not tasty at all. I was embarrassed my last visit because we brought friends from out of town and none of us enjoyed our dinners. IF I go back, I will not order seafood. The service is always good, but the hostess could be friendlier. In the evenings, there is always a wait, so I am wondering WHY they removed the benches from outside so you have to STAND AROUND now if you have to wait outside because the inside is full. Some of us aren't as young as we used to be and standing is difficult. |

I was excited at first to try this restaurant because the parking lot is always full. The waitress was awesome!! The food was fair and the tables were almost touching. There was no room to move. God forbid they have a fire. |

I Heard about there Prime rib,so I took my family expecting a good dinner. My daughter in laws fish dinner still had the bar code stuck to the bottom of her fish. This tells me that it was never washed before cooking?? Very scary, When brought it to the waitress attention she told the owner but he was to busy to come out and apologize or explain how that can happen. They did not charge for that dinner. Will never go back |

Food was awesome. Service was slow but the food and the view more than made up for it. There was so much food, I think I could have feed a family of 4 off my prime rib. Way more food than you pay for. |

My wfe and I went to Martins for the first time and we love it.The only thing I can compare the kingcut prime rib to is the Brontosaurus rib in the Flintstones cartoon. The serving was huge,a little fatty, but overall was excellent as were the trimmings. The service was slow, but they were very busy so that was exceptable. We would go back, also for the fact that we ate well for under thirty dollars. |

Had the duck, my wife and daughter both had shrimp. Everything was great. I love this place, great food at great prices, and pleasant efficient service. So what if it gets slow at times - gives you a chance to relax and enjoy your meal and company, and the ocean view.

They certainly give you a huge portion of Prime Rib and it was cooked nicely, but not the best quality meat. Other than that, it was just average. Service was fair, the view was great and the atmosphere was ok.

My wife and I ordered the end-cut monster prime rib with setup, medium. It was huge and excellent. Of course we took most of it home with us, there was no way the two of us could eat it all unless we wanted to do serious harm to ourselves. Service was fine and friendly. Cleanliness was acceptable. We eat here regularly. Prices are a little high IMHO, but aren't they all. Stay away from the smoking area. We would recommend Martin's to anyone without reservation. |

So so food at rather high prices. I've found much better in the area than Martin's. The service was "rough" at best. |

This is not a gourmet eatery and certainly not for the dress-up's. Menu is varied, prices are somewhat high (same everywhere). But the food is good and plentiful, service is rough but good, the place including restrooms is about as clean as to be expected, and the view is nice. Gets noisy at times but what do you expect? Staff is friendly and if you're friendly too, you will enjoy the experience. Try the orange duck sometime, you should like it! |

My wife and I have eaten at Martin's 4 times. We like their seafood very much. We brought family visitors from CT there and they liked it as much as we did. |

Go to the Outback for a steak or Red Lobster for seafood and then go to Martins. You will notice how inferior it is. |

My prime rib was very fatty and low grade. The server wasn't very friendly and once the food arrived it took forever to get drink refills. |

I first visted Martin's a few years ago, I can't remember much about that experience except that I never really wanted to return. Last week though friends invited us out to eat and they took us back to Martin's. It wasn't too bad, but I wasn't very impressed. Prime rib is always our favorite and this wasn't particualry great at all. It was warm and not very tender and dind't come with much. The salad was fresh but very small. We didn't have desert. |

I've been there a few times and think it is great. It has always been packed when I go there. That alone should tell you something. |
