Dr. Hinman, Island Doctors, Palm Coast
Get to know Dr. Hinman - Roy H. Hinman II, M.D., was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and received a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Tulsa University in 1975. After receiving his Masters Degree in Human Resource Management from
Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, he completed medical school at the Universidad of Technologica
de Santiago in Santo Domingo, The Dominican Republic. He served his family practice residency with the
University of Florida Medical Program at the University Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida.
Before relocating to St. Augustine Beach, Dr. Hinman worked as an emergency room physician at Bradford
County Hospital in Starke, Florida. Board-certified in Family Practice, he is a member of the Florida Medical
Association, the American Association of Family Practitioners, the Florida Association of Family Practitioners,
and the St. Johns County Medical Society.
Our Mission - Dr. Hinman and his entire health-care team are pleased you have joined the Humana
HMO program. We look forward to guiding you toward your optimal health status. As
part of a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), our focus is to develop a close
relationship with you, the Member. We hope, with your help, to achieve a healthy and
active lifestyle through education, diet changes, exercise, smoking cessation,
alternative and preventive health options.
We fondly refer to ourselves as a "Health IMPROVEMENT Organization" (HIO). We
take pride in improving our patients' overall health with lifestyle management to aid
our patients to be "all they can be", to look, and more importantly FEEL their best
through diet and lifestyle modifications.
As a family practice office, Island Doctors can take care of almost all of your health-care needs and the needs of
every member of your family.
These health-care needs include:
- Acute care for illnesses and injuries.
- Chronic care for such long term illnesses as diabetes and high blood pressure.
- Preventative medicine, with routine screenings to aid in the early detection of specific disorders such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, and high blood cholesterol.
- Gynecological care, including routine PAP smears for all Humana Gold Plus Patients.
- Pediatric care, including routine immunizations, well-baby and well-child.
- Geriatric care, for people 65 and older.
- Diagnostic services.
- Minor in-office surgery, such as the removal of lesions or the suturing of wounds.
- Acute care of lacerations and minor trauma.
- Weight reduction and smoking cessation.
- Dermatology services including but not limited to freezing of skin lesions with liquid nitrogen.
- We encourage you to make an appointment for any health concern. If your condition requires the services
of another specialist Dr. Hinman can make the referral and follow up with your treatment to make sure you
receive continuity of care.
- For your convenience, this office is equipped with electrocardiogram (EKG) equipment and spirometry. If
you need inpatient or outpatient hospital care, Dr. Hinman will use the comprehensive services at Flagler
Hospital in St. Augustine.
If you have an urgent health problem, please call us as early in the day as possible and we will schedule
you for the same day. We also take walk-ins from 8:00 am—8:30 pm. Mon-Fri.
