When our family comes up from South Florida or down from North Carolina, we always have lunch at Strathmore's. The corned beef and nova salmon are really delicious. We rarely order bagels since there is so much else that is good to eat. And when we go to visit the relatives, we always stop to take out Salmon, cheese, and bagels. A very good New York style deli. Yes, it can be crowded, but the delis in NY are crowded too. :) |

Called waited on hold for 8 minutes, thought I was disconnected and called again... on hold for over 9 minutes... not believing the hold time, called from my second phone...11 minutes. I can't believe they treat valuable customers that way. Why can't they just take the order and give a time as to when it would be ready... unbelievable! The girl said they can't stop and take an order...so where are the managers... you know the people that want business! |

I have rarely experienced customer service as bad as at the Strathmore deli. Let me say that I have never had a better pastrami sandwich, but we had to order it from the takeout counter because the woman working the hostess desk was totally incompetent. We were told the wait would be 20 minutes and after waiting for an hour (and watching a party of the same size which came in after us be seated) we ordered takeout and expressed our frustration to the hostess who acted like we were the ones being unreasonable. Since she did nothing to remedy the situation, we talked to the owner who seemed like a nice guy, but instead of apologizing and taking ownership of the problem he instead told us we should have made a reservation. If this review was based on the food alone we would have given 5 stars for sure, but due to the inexcusable customer service we will never go back. |

One Saturday, my boyfriend and I went to try Strathmore instead of our usual bagel shop. I ordered a chicken salad on a salt bagel and he ordered lox on a bagel. There was only one salt bagel left at the time. When we received our order I was very surprised at the price. $21!? We could have got that for half the price with larger portions. The chicken salad was okay but the bagel had almost no salt and was rather hard. |

Really 10 minutes on a busy day? This place has the best bagels compared to any place around. We go for takeout and dine in all the time. For anyone who has not tried this establishment please do. There is a reason the parking lot is always full and there is usually a wait time to dine in. |

The only reason I go to this establishment is for a bagel, plain and simple... but its not that simple. Every time I visit i wait and i wait and i wait.... the service is grumpy, is it the end of the world to serve me a bagel within 10 minutes? I can't figure out what is so difficult about the job, you would think its the easiest job. For example, say hello, ask "which bagel" and serve... really is it that hard? So disappointed as i won't be going back. |

I went here for an early morning bagel and coffee, right at opening time 7 a.m. As I walked into this establishment they were obviously just opening up and preparing their bagels. When the guy behind the counter noticed me he yelled out to someone in the back "Who unlocked the door" then said to me that they were not open yet. I responded with "your sign says you open at 7, and it is 7. As I turned to leave, this same gentlemen says to me all right what do you want! My response was "nothing now, I'll go somewhere else where they'll want my business and I'll be treated with some respect." So back to Dunkin I went, never to return. |

Visited on Monday July 27 at 9:20am. The restaurant was not full and the sign stated to wait to be seated. I did. A waitress finally saw me waiting and told me to sit anywhere. I did. I sat for 10 minutes without a menu, without even being acknowledged that I was even in the restaurant. After that I got up and walked out. These waitresses are pros at not making eye contact for fear that they might have to actually wait on someone. Very rude! |

This place is great! The food is top quality and the portions are huge. My family and friends are so impressed with the homey feeling. Everything is made from scratch and I've never had better baked goods so it's like a bakery, bagel shop, breakfast & lunch restaurant and real New York deli all rolled into one.
There was a 20 min. wait for a table but we talked with others waiting, some from Jacksonville, a couple from Palm Coast, a couple from Port orange and people from Orlando. It was great we were all sampling foods from the deli and having a ball. It's too bad our table was ready, we were having such a good time. I highly recommend the corned beef, brisket, turkey or pastrami which they make themselves. Now don't get me wrong, I like Boar's Head, but the real stuff is out of this world! And I must mention the rye bread, I bought a loaf and ate it plain with nothing on it. It was still warm and sooooo good! |

I ate there today with a few others. The place was packed with a definite New York vibrant feel. We were told there was a 15 minute wait for a table. During that time samples of a delicious crumb cake were brought around, we sampled salads and pudding at the deli and when our table was ready it was actually less than 15 minutes. Some of us had breakfast; eggs benedict, French toast, pancakes and others had soup, pastrami & Corned beef , and potato pancakes. Real homemade stuff.I was the only one who ordered iced coffee which was made with coffee cubes and when everyone saw mine of course they had it too. The food was wonderful and so much of it. We even ordered desserts and shared; cannoli, cheesecake, rice pudding and apple strudel. Definitely homemade and just fantastic! It was a great experience from the service, the friendliness of the owners and staff and the chatter of the patrons. We were talking to the tables around us and having a fun time. It was a real New York Deli experience and no doubt, a real great addition to Palm Coast! |

Went for lunch at 2:00 .It was not crowded maybe 8 tables with people.Took over 20 minutes for food to come out.Ordered a bagel with ham and Swiss and chicken fingers. The chicken fingers were the frozen kind like you can by in the store, the fries that came with it were cold and tasted like they were cooked in old oil. They said they could not gut the bread out of the bagel because of health dept reasons, and they could not heat the bagel up either. The waitress was very rude and I was listening to another waitress at a table close by and she was also rude to the people at the table. For the prices they charge for there food the waitresses should have a little respect. Lunch was 24.00. I will not be back. The food should be a lot better. |

I have never had a problem with the service and the owner, Alan and hostess, Carol are the absolute best! I recommend them to everyone! |

The main reason I am giving this restaurant 3 stars instead of 4 is mainly because of the waitstaff that works there. My friends and I ate there twice; food was good and owners were very nice and pleasant. However, both times two servers were unpleasant and unwelcoming. And what is up paying $1.25 for a can of soda?! The restaurant does not have a soda fountain and they charge $ 1.25 per can and no refills! |

Having written a previous negative review, it is only fair that I now update that opinion with a most positive one. The owner of this establishment took the time out of an extremely busy schedule to write me a personal letter regarding our experience at his deli. The letter was respectful and showed deep concern for his business and for his customers. Since he went to the trouble of writing, I went to speak with him in person and discuss the experience my friends and I had at the deli. He is most anxious to correct whatever displeased us. It is clear that he strives to please all customers. As I said in the previous review, my complaint was never about the food, which is very good indeed. I am sure the problems we had during our visit there will not happen again, and I would urge all readers to try this deli. I intend to return often. |

Five of us went there yesterday. Two out of the five orders were incorrect. The server did not return to refill the iced tea, and was not very attentive throughout the meal. When I received my bill, there was a "miscellaneous kitchen extra" on it. Puzzled, we asked the server. We were told that an Asiago bagel, even though it is listed with all the other ones, costs 35 cents more. The server also made sure to point out that Asiago cheese is quite expensive nowadays. In addition, my friend was charged an extra 80 cents for butter for her bagel. That amounts to the price of a stick of butter.
In tough economic times, both businesses and customers are trying to make a living. I understand that. But let's use a little common sense. Why is Strathmore nickel and diming us like this? Why do they not include the price of butter with the bagel, and have all the bagels the same price? After all, sesame seeds on a bagel are also expensive, cinnamon, raisins, etc. also cost, and an everything bagel has, well, everything. The bagel, incidentally, was good. The experience was not, and luckily there are other deli's in town. |

My girlfriend and I had the wonderful chance to have breakfast at Strathmore Deli on Sunday morning. We were immediately greeted and seated upon entering. We were asked if we wanted a table or booth which was very nice because we are not "skinny" and do not like booths. Our server was so sweet and attentive to our needs. She was very professional yet talked with us on a personal level. We enjoyed the best coffee and food we have ever had in Palm Coast. This is the best place to eat in town! Not only is the food awesome, they give you a lot of food. I was not hungry all day after that meal and that is very unusual for me to be full all day. What a great place to eat! |

The best coffee in town. We can't get enough when we are there. The sandwiches are huge and fantastic. Honestly, I can't talk about each thing individually because it would take too long. Excellent sandwiches. As far as complaints about the price, the sandwich prices are comparable or less than some delis "up north". The sandwiches come with fries and one side. A Reuben at a prime deli up north would be $10-$12 with no sides except pickles. We had Reubens, one corned beef and one turkey, and we have no complaints. Large meat portions, lean corned beef and good rye bread. This is one of the best eating experiences in Palm Coast. |

I had lunch at Strathmore's last week and I was very, very impressed. It was an early lunch so I had a smoked salmon omelet, coffee and oatmeal. It was the best coffee I think I have had in years; the omelet was huge and delicious and even the oatmeal was excellent. We also had two bowls of soup just to "try" that were so obviously homemade and out of this world and some yummy homemade pickles. We had Carol as our waitress and she was very attentive and gracious and fun. My daughter went there again this weekend and had pancakes that were so huge that she had breakfast the next day. They were also delicious as was everything else. It was just overall a great experience and we can't wait to go back. I am glad we finally got there because we were very pleased. |

I just got back from eating at this place and it is absolutely wonderful I can certainly understand why there was a 20 minute wait. At first I was a little put out by having to wait but a very pleasant lady brought around samples and I was encouraged to try anything I wanted to sample at the deli counter. The wait went so quickly and it was well worth it.
I was amazed at the selection and the freshness. I don't even know where to begin with this review because it was my first time and it has now become my favorite restaurant . There were 6 of us and I'll start with the service. from the minute we walked in and were greeted by the hostess with a big friendly smile, it felt that we were regulars. Our server, April was really friendly and bent over backwards for us. We all ate different things so we could taste each others. There wasn't one thing that we didn't like. Two had breakfast, Eggs benedict (wonderful) and an omelets. It was so large it was off the plate. The homefries, grits, country ham and bagels with cream cheese were great! Needless to say that meal was so filling and there were leftovers. One person in our party had a Reuben and said it was the best he's ever had. Another had Soup (definitely homemade) and 1/2 corned beef sandwich. If that was half I wonder what big the whole is. Another raved about the chicken salad and the last person had a hot brisket with gravy. No wonder why the place was packed. The corned beef, pastrami, turkey etc. were all homemade and we even got desserts to bring home. What a warm and fuzzy place. the owners came over and we chatted awhile and when we left we were old friends already. A definite thumbs up for anyone who likes great food! |

I have been going to your shop since it opened. I have seen changes made some were good some not good. My biggest complaint is one on Saturday morning on my way to work I called ahead to place and order. Everything Bagel w/cc & medium tea with milk. The girl who answered sounded like I was bothering her & she kept me on hold for 10 minutes. I went to the store and waited for help. I did tell her she left me on hold and never came back. She replied I had a customer. I told her that I understood that but all she had to do was tell me that not leave me on hold. Finally, she was able to take my order. Other workers were coming in after 8 maybe two people should be there when the store opened. Also I had exact change but they need change for another customer. I will continue to go to Strathmore but I hope service changes. |

My husband and I tried Strathmore for the first time yesterday. We were highly impressed. I have worked in multiple restaurants and traveled the world and I am hard to please when eating out. I thought the Strathmore was excellent, the portions were hefty and the quality was there. Please try the lobster bisque, it is out of this world! The plates were garnished nicely which always adds a touch of class to your meals. The wait staff was very pleasant and the owner came around to ask us how the meal was. They truly care about their customers. We'll definitely be returning. |

The bagels are good, but the high prices keep this place from getting 5 stars. Also, it'd be nice to be able to get some warmer fresher tasting bagels at 10-11am, than those that seem like they have been out for several hours.
Also, I can't wait until winter time comes, because they are going to have the LARGEST bagels you have ever seen. At least they should, since they have the SMALLEST right now and blame that on heat and humidity. |

I have been to Strathmore's 3 times now. While the food was tasty the prices are excessive for lunch. As for the service the owner is always quite pleasant as are the folks behind the counter. I have yet to have attentive, kind service from either of the 2 different waitresses I have had. They are abrupt and act as if I am a minor annoyance to them. I'm so sorry but I won't be back and was truly looking forward to having an authentic deli in Palm Coast. |

Overall the quality of most products to go and in the restaurant are very good, and this is the only place in the area to get this type of food.
We eat breakfast there every week and the food and service is very good, and the breakfast specials are also a good value, ie, eggs, home fries, bagel or bialy, and coffee or tea for $4.50.
Their sandwiches, corned beef and pastrami, are very tasty, the rye bread is so so, but the portion for almost $9 is very little meat.
My biggest complaint which is a major negative when talking about the quality of the food, thus a very good rating not excellent, is this is the place to go if you want day or more old rolls and breads to go! The staff when asked will admit that most of the time when asked the rolls, Kaiser, have been made the day before, as is the case for the rye breads, and challah, kept in plastic bags. If you want to sell day old breads and rolls put a sign out to let everyone know they are paying full price for day or older breads.
Fortunately so far the bagels are made fresh daily, even though on a regular basis the size on many seems to have shrunk. I can't speak to the baked goods as I rarely buy them.
Please change your practices on the breads and rolls so I can purchase them fresh the same day or at a discount like all other bakeries if I so choose.
Establishment Rebuttal to Above Review
In response to “Loyal but Dismayed Customer” why would a customer continue to come into a business that gives supposedly small quantities and sells stale baked products?
If you have a problem and come in every week why haven’t I heard about your complaints?
My wife and I are always there and appreciate customer feedback and work hard to make things right. The fact that you have chosen not to speak with us and post a derogatory review leads me to believe you are posting under the guise of a loyal customer but have an non-constructive agenda.
It’s a shame that I feel it necessary to defend my business but considering your gross misrepresentations I must do so.
My baked goods are baked fresh everyday, in fact we bake anywhere from 7 to 10 rye breads a day that are sliced daily (right in front of the public). We would never serve day old anything, we pride ourselves on excellent quality control and fresh products. So, wherever or whoever “Loyal but Dismayed Customer” is getting information, he/she is totally misinformed. As per our bagels, they too are made fresh throughout the day. The weight of all the bagels are the same however, the size is based on the proofing process. Temperature and humidity can affect the size, which in Florida; will vary at various times of the year. At the end of the day the left over bagels are made into bagel chips and donated to churches and food pantries.
As per the meat on our sandwiches, each sandwich is weighed out to 7 oz (almost a half pound of meat). We pride ourselves on giving large portions of fresh, quality foods. An overwhelming majority of our customers comment about our enormous portions and walk out with a box for another meal.
I once again request that “Loyal but Dismayed Customer” come in and speak with my wife or myself regarding her/his issues. Our goals are that every customer whether dining in or take-out, have an excellent experience.

Strathmore Deli is our Saturday morning breakfast site. While we enjoy the food and service, this review primarily commends our favorite waitress, FRANCINE. In addition to providing excellent service, her hospitality and personality are exemplary. There's not been a time when she has not been pleasant. She makes our morning. I love the food in this place. The portions are huge; enough for 2 meals, the service is professional and the kettle boiled bagels are exactly how a bagel should be, crispy on the outside. The Flagels are my favorite, less dough inside. The menu is so large there is something for everyone in all different price ranges. I love homemade soups and the chicken Matzo Ball and Lobster Bisque are awesome!
On Sunday there was a large group of us and we all ate different things, tasting each others breakfasts and lunches. Everything was great but the Challah French Toast with Almonds and Granola was fantastic. Corned beef used to be my favorite but the French Toast is up there as well. The waitress serving us, Jenell was very accommodating and efficient and was not flustered at all with a large, noisy bunch of demanding customers. The owners came by several times to make sure everything was okay and spent awhile chatting with us. They went around to every table and it appears they really care that their patrons have a good experience.
I'm happy there are more varieties of dining in Palm Coast and the best part for me is that they deliver! |

I agree with MB, the bagels were excellent when Strathmore opened but there has been a sharp decline in quality... chewy and undercooked. We stopped in for lunch one day and the food was average and pricey. If you've ever had a fantastic pastrami sandwich in NYC, keep that memory because you won't find one here. Modest portions, high prices. The staff behind the bagel counter was friendly when the place first opened, a lot less so now. The owner makes a show of walking around and smiling but he doesn't seem to be taking care of business. |

I absolutely love the food, service and attitude of this restaurant. I have never had a meal that wasn't fresh and tasty and the portions are huge, one certainly gets their money's worth. It's been years since I've had a real water boiled bagel and a genuine egg cream soda.It is a true delicatessen. I'm a Reuben man and it's better than any I've had up north. |

Great restaurant, great food. Very responsive owners. If the prior terrible review got your attention, take a look in the Flagler Forum where the owners replied within just over an hour with their apology and how they solved the problem. The ladies in question came back and received complimentary meals, the hostess is no longer there, and so on. I'll go back. In fact, I'll go back often! I'll take friends! I'll tell more friends. We'll have meetings there. Love their chopped liver and Sloppy Joe wraps too.

I was in Strathmore's last Sunday morning and couldn't believe what I witnessed. A customer had just been seated and served coffee at a small table. She explained to the waitress that someone would be joining her in just a moment. The hostess came over to her table and starts barking at her to "get up because they don't hold tables for customers" you could tell the lady at the table was embarrassed she said "I'm not asking you to hold this table, I'm here and my friend will be here any minute. We left church at the same time, she is probably parking her car right now." But the hostess wasn't giving up and then said in a very nasty tone" Do I need to get the manager" and wouldn't you know it this poor woman now had the hostess and the manager hovering over and telling her to "get up". I just couldn't believe how rude and nasty they were being to her not to mention the scene they were causing.
The lady left the restaurant embarrassed, as anyone would be. ONE minutes later her friend walked in and the Hostess tore into her, all she did was ask if her friend was there. To top it all off that Hostess (in what seems to be her naturally rude demeanor ) told everyone who was waiting for a table to get outside and wait there. I will NEVER go back there I don't care how good their bagels are. The Hostess AND Manager should be ashamed of themselves! |

My husband could have gone anywhere for lunch on his birthday but chose Strathmore Bagels. He had a corned beef and pastrami combo on rye and said it was the best he's had in years! My absolute favorite is the chopped chicken livers - the best I've had in years! The coffee is great, the pickles are great, the cucumber salad is to die for and the bagels are the real thing. The carrot cake is also fabulous. For years we had hoped a good deli would open in Palm Coast and we got more than we hoped for - thank you Strathmore Bagels. |

Can't say anything bad about the food served at breakfast or lunch. Service is great and friendly and the owner comes around to ask how everything is and actually seems to enjoy his customers. The coffee is okay (believe it or not we prefer McDonald's and/or Starbucks) but the food and service make up for anything the coffee lacks. We were hoping to see a Panera Bakery open; however, this new restaurant will continue to be one of our favorites.. |

Finally a bagel that doesn't look and taste like it was made by a grocery store and trucked into Palm Coast. |

My family and I went for lunch - everything was delicious! The service was terrific. We got seated right away & our orders promptly taken by a very friendly server. The restroom was very clean. The only thing I wish was better is the parking situation. Maybe one day they will relocate where the parking spaces aren't so limited. |

The bagel was good but unfortunately their coffee is terrible. I am of the sort that likes coffee with his bagel as part of the morning and their coffee is nothing but brown flavorless water. |

So, I took my son for breakfast this morning. We each had a bagel and we split an order of potato pancakes. The service was friendly and excellent. The hostess, Millie, was friendly and fun to talk to - she shared some great stories with us. We had two waitresses and both were attentive and prompt. The bagels were EXCELLENT and the Potato Pancakes are unmatched anyplace else I've had them in Florida.
It is a little pricey- just under $20 for the two of us but well worth it for the atmosphere, service and family feel of the place. The only complaint I have is that the coffee isn't very good- they use a liquid coffee system that is marketed as comparable to brewed but it's not even close. It's lacking the aroma and full flavor of real brewed coffee.
I think an establishment that is primarily breakfast can't afford to have bad coffee and I even noticed some folks who dined in brought in Dunkin Donuts coffee. We will be back! |

I happen to really like the coffee. It is rich and aromatic. Ocean Hammock uses the same system and I've always enjoyed their coffee. In fact, I like everything Strathmore has brought to Palm Coast. Great food with many things you can't get anywhere else, wonderful service and caring owners that want to please their clientele. These people bend over backwards to make everything right and I have to give them a lot of credit.
They take suggestions and go out of their way to make us happy. They have been open such a short time and have such a huge menu it amazes me that the waitresses and counter people are as together as they are. This is the BEST breakfast and lunch place in Palm Coast! I wish them well! |

We have had the pleasure of dinning in and taking out. Our server was Michelle and she was funny and sweet and kept everything in order. Ashley and Kayla helped us at the counter. They answered every question we asked and were smiling and sweet. I will definitely come again and bring my mom and dad. |

What a wonderful new addition to our town. The new restaurant and deli are absolutely awesome. All the food is made friendly and the staff go out of their way to do ANYTHING to please you and make the food anyway you want it,even if it isn't listed that way on the menu. Our server Elise. was excellent. she was fast efficient and so friendly. It was also nice for once to hear a waitress so happy about her job and even told us what wonderful people the owners and managers have been, who all by the way stopped by to say hi and make sure everything was OK.This place serves traditional Jewish deli right down to the pickle and kraut tray on the table for lunch. This is going to become the place for breakfast and lunch in Palm Coast, forget all that generic crap at Bob Evans.Perkins, and Denny's which have all gone downhill fast. Enjoy! |

My husband and I went there Sunday which was their third day open. It was very busy but we were lucky to be seated right away. My husband had an omelets with a pumpernickel bagel, home fries and a corn bread muffin. I don't know where he put it all. I had cheese blintzes that were very good. They aren't huge so I was able to eat them all. Everyone from the owner to the bus boys were very nice. If you want to sample one of their many cream cheeses or salads they'll be glad to let you try whatever you want. A lot of time was spent redoing the place and it's very attractive. We'll definitely go back and bring some of their wonderful bagels home. |
