Every year we plan our business trip down to Miami to allow us at least (sometimes two) stops at this restaurant. Atmosphere is 5 on any scale. Choose Saturday and enjoy the live music. Prices are reasonable. Wine list excellent and food delicious. We tell all our Hampton friends who are snow birds that they need to try this restaurant. Tops. |

We have been eating at this restaurant almost every other week for the past 6 months and absolutely love the food. Yes, you do wait quite some time for the food, but that is because it is all cooked as ordered. The owners are very nice, friendly, accommodating people. It is a shame that they aren't busier, but I don't think a lot of people even know that they are there. They are hidden off of the main road. Great food at a very reasonable price. Definitely worth the wait..You have to go there knowing it will take some time. A+++++ |

This was the first place we ate at in Palm Coast. I thought it was delicious! I had snapper with a wonderful, velvety wine sauce, husband had salmon with a verde sauce, also excellent, and our friend had veal parm, loaded with cheese, also excellent. We also had the white Sangria which was delightful. Service was way too slow, for as few people in the place. The owner waited on us. She may have cooked as well. I wasn't happy about the long wait until I got the food, and it was worth waiting for. |

I suppose it's the economy. They don't seem to throw anything out here. They try it out on the customer to see if it flies. Nice people, they mean well, economy got to them as well everyone else. Just be careful. If it's bad, send it back. Avoid the lobster, they never seem to toss it. We learned the hard way. Good rice, bad seafood. |

Went to this restaurant last week for a birthday party. The party was a huge success. The food was served buffet style and was delicious. The service started a little slow, but they caught up and it wound up being excellent. This is a great place to plan a party. This is the second time I visited and I will definitely return. I attended a Christmas Party here in December, 2007 and that was a wonderful experience. That time they offered a set menu. Food was then as it was recently, great. |

I forgot how great this place was! Very, very tasty food. I had a veal dish with a mushroom sauce that was delicious. The service was a bit slow, each course took a while - some probably from cooking so that's understandable but even the water and check took quite awhile too, even though it was not busy. But - the dinners were so good, I will definitely go again. |

Very good paella and that's not an easy thing to find. The lobster was overcooked but still, it was very good and the pleasant attitudes of the staff a relief from the rudeness we encountered at Barbara Jean's the night before. |

We have eaten there a few times and the food was good, but the wait staff always leaves much to be desired. One Friday night it was not very busy and there were many tables available. We went in and stood at the door for a few minutes waiting for someone to greet us. Nada. So we walked around to get some attention. One waitress by the bar saw us and acted sort of surprised that someone had come in. She asked if we wanted a table and said for us to pick one ourselves. We seated ourselves and, no lie, we waited twenty minutes for someone to attend to us! The girl who told us to seat ourselves never gave us a menu, never offered us a beverage, not even a glass of water came our way! As we sat there we started to notice that all the other patrons were sitting at sparse tables as well and the only person who came out of the kitchen was a woman who bustled by us to clear off a table and reset it. We asked her if we could see a menu and she said she was only busing tables! I thought "Well slow down sister, pace yourself, you've only had one so far!" It was like some sort of twilight zone where people get sucked into a restaurant and then left there alone to waste away, eventually resorting to chewing on the center pieces for sustenance. Or doing like we did which was to finally get up and leave.
That was a few months ago and we have never gone back, yet we hear they do a bang up job as a Latin dance club later in the evening. I'd like to check that out sometime, but I am afraid that the unattended hungry patrons left over from the dinner hour may crawl from their seats and start chewing on my ankles. |

Being of Latin heritage and lover of authentic Spanish and Portuguese food, I expect a lot out of Portuguese/Spanish restaurants that I choose to dine at. Taste of Portugal has not let me down so far! The fare at Taste of Portugal reminds me of the Ironbound Section in Newark, where my girlfriend and I like to eat while up in Jersey.
Our first experience there was on our anniversary and truly, it was special. Her pork chops with garlic sauce were amazing (there were slivers of whole garlic! That's living!). I tease my girlfriend about not finishing her plate when we go out to eat ("Come on...be a champ! Finish there, tough gal."), but surprisingly, she practically licked the plate clean (I kid you not!). I had the paella (I always have the paella on my first experience at such places of this type of cuisine) and let me tell you I was overwhelmed! Fresh, precisely cooked seafood, tasty yellow rice (mind you I hate rice...the only rice I eat is when I have paella) ---- Oh I can still smell the aromas. I would like to remind future diners that this is Portuguese fare, so there's really no chorizo or chicken in the paella (as in Spanish paella valenciana). And it was I, not my girlfriend, that could not finish my plate, well actually pot of paella. Nonetheless, I had to take half of my dish home.
Our second venture, we were not disappointed either. We started off with a grilled chorizo, flambéed right at our table. It was so tasty, I could taste the wine that was in this sausage. My girlfriend, being a creature of habit, had the chops again, although this time, the chops were thinner and a tad dry, but, once again, she finished her meal. I on the other hand like to experiment and had the Portuguese Boneless Sirloin with ham and egg on top of it. Once again, I was amazed. The steak was huge...I didn't think I could finish it, but I did....and it was grilled exactly to my liking. And they also added some vegetables cured in some kind of hot pepper vinegar....amazing.
Before I get to my service part of my review, I want to make a note on the sangria. We had it our first time there....it was phenomenal. This is authentic, homemade, honest-to-goodness sangria. About 3 weeks before our dining experience at TOP, we went to Columbia in St. Augustine. Our sangria was literally juice with fruit and maybe a shot of alcohol. Horrid, bland tasting (not to mention that the food was horrible and overpriced....I didn't order the paella because it was priced out of my range and it would take 30 minutes to make (way too long)). Lousy service and 70 dollars later, I truly regretted going there. So just for future reference get your sangria at TOP and order a pitcher!
As for our service at TOP, I agree with some fellow reviewers...there has to be some more organization with the staff. While the service was friendly and at times speedy, I just sensed that perhaps there was a bit of scatteredness amongst the staff, but perhaps the servers were new and green. All in good time and in good management.
As far as price is concerned, well, let's say that I've never paid over 50 dollars while dining there. And I would gladly pay 100 for the excellent food and quality dining experience I had a Taste of Portugal. While my girlfriend and I thought of dining there once a week, I said, let's make it special and go once a month, exactly the date of our anniversary. I can't wait till next month! |

Tuesday night, 6 pm dinner. Only one waitress in entire place...she did everything (take orders, serve food, work the bar). Obviously overworked, although gave generous portions of glasses of wine. As restaurant filled up (tables with 6-10 people) maitre d' finally started to assist lone waitress. Waited unusually long for drinks, meal and bill (very odd, waiting for bill to pay for dinner). Food was good, although anything different than fast food here in Palm Coast tastes better. Place should have more help in both restaurant and bar area (worst thing is to have to wait at a restaurant, when you are paying for it). Overall, not a good experience. Gave it a try - will keep looking for higher quality place. |

We took our children there for a dinner one night. The waiter, Felix, was so amazing! He made the entire meal just wonderful. He was so friendly and so quick to our table. He even made a special item, not on the menu, just for me! The decor was lovely, although I wish the lighting had been a bit darker - it was too bright. The food was wonderful and the service was outstanding. We plan to return often. |

Arrived for early dinner. Pleasant decor with good view of outside greenery--instead of parking lot as is too often the case.
Excellent drinks. My Manhattan was, well, it is sometimes difficult to get a proper one of these in the town after which it is named. I ordered it dark, which in some restaurants generates a frown and a question. No question here, just a great drink.
Waiter was a charmer. Big city service with a touch of class. I ordered shish-ke-bob. Ok, here's the cliche: delicious melt-in-your-mouth. And cooked to order: medium rare, which in most restaurants seems to be unachievable. Likewise excellent were vegetables and white rice. It is saying something when you find the white rice tasty. My wife ordered shrimp in lemon butter garlic sauce, which is an appetizer. Which was fine with her as portion was ample. Her reaction: closing of eyes, look of exquisite pleasure. Her dinner salad became entree and she enjoyed it nearly as much. For dessert: flan with espresso. Flan was generous in portion and wonderful in taste. Hard to find flan this good nowadays. Espresso was weak, only flaw in otherwise special dining experience. Hard to find good espresso etc.
Buffet has been discontinued as money-loser rather than continued at lower quality in order to cut costs. Quality seems to be foremost at this establishment. This being our first visit, will see whether standards are consistently high in future. |

We were excited when this restaurant opened. Finally a place with some class. That is the case, however the food and service were not. We tried it three times and finally gave up. My last meal there was burnt fish and while the owner tried to make amends, we felt enough is enough. They should get it right the first time. I'm afraid if you want good Portugeuse food, you'll have to go to Portugal or closer yet, Newark, N.J. |

I had the distinct pleasure for the fourth time in the last two months to have dinner at the Taste of Portugal Resturant in Palm Coast. The owners Jaime and Irene are outstanding hosts who couldn't accomodate myself and 13 guests more than they did on a Saturday night. The food was outstanding delicious, plentiful and reasonably priced. My guests from out of state all agreed that the fine dinning was the best they ever experienced in Florida. The service was prompt, courteous, professional and extremely attentive. My guests had various dishes from seafood, rack of veal to excellent lentil soup. The deserts were fresh, delicious and presented outstandingly well. For those who like music with dinner, the solo one man band was excellent, it afforded us the ability to eat dinner with beautiful music and later in the evening to dance to a wide variety of music. People who don't visit this outstanding restaurant are truly missing the rewards of excellently prepared food and the hospitality of two owners Jaime and Irene who really care about their customers. It is like dinning at a friends house. A truly outstanding experience for all of us and my guests want to go back when they return from N.Y. |

The food was delicious and the staff was very nice and when it was time for desert, the entire wait staff including the managment came out with the cake and they all sang happy birthday to her, along with the band. It was a great moment and I know it will be something she will never forget. Taste of Portugal is at the top of my list! |

I had a recent business luncheon here and the service was so atrocious I was embarrassed for my client (who suggested we try this place). When we asked the server for anything we just received a negative attitude. She acted like it was a great effort to serve us and we should be privileged to be eating here. The food was equally atrocious. The bill had some very strange additions to it which we were told were due to "customizing" menu items. I believe I'd asked to leave something off my plate. I wouldn't of realized it would of cost me to have less. |

OUTSTANDING!! My family and I had such a good time at Taste of Portugal. We were treated with the best service, ambience, music and food,it was wonderful! We all ordered seafood and the shrimp, lobster, clams and fish were both fresh and tasty. The portions were more than enough, that we even got to take the leftovers home. There was a variety of desserts to pick from (all looked wonderful) and our expressos and capuccinos were great! The owners and their staff were very friendly, courteous and professional. The live music was both entertaining and versatile, they played all different kinds of music and their enthusiasm made everyone get up and dance.
I can't say enough about what a wonderful restaurant this is! You should definitely visit the Taste of Portugal for yourself and you will see what a wonderful, new experience you will encounter!! |

Over the last few months I have been dining at Taste of Portugal for both lunch and dinner at least 3 times a week. I find it to be one of best restaurants in Palm Coast. The interior decor is beautiful and the owners are very friendly. I find that the management and staff are very professional and always try to please their customers. But most of all the food is great and generously portioned. This is a family owned establishment and I feel like family when I eat there. |

The Taste of Portugal Restaurant in Palm Coast is was the worst restaurant I have ever been in in my life. My husband and I decided to take our family out for a nice dinner and try something new. We went to The Taste of Portugal. We all sat down, my husband and I, our five year old and our one year old, my mother and my mother in law. We all order our drinks and the waitress came to give us our drinks and spilled two ice cold soda's all down my hair and back and tried to catch the tray by leaning it on my neck. After getting threw the shock of the cold soda's down my back, I realized I could barely move my neck. The restaurant owner was very nasty about the situation, and just moved our seats. The waitress was crying and I did feel bad for her. Please understand I know accidents happen, but the owner was very nasty about the situation. Finally the waitress came back and offered to buy me dessert, I felt bad that she had to do that, I felt it was the owner responsibility. We ordered our food, which by the way was horrible. When the bill finally came we had just about had it, they didn't even comp us one thing. My mother in law, who is a business owner herself in Palm Coast, asked to speak to the owner. She explained to her that this is not the way you run business, a mistake was made and she should of been more considerate to me and my family. My mother in laws white out fit was covered in soda, the owner did not even offer to pay her dry cleaning bill, she told my mother in law to get a lawyer. Then told her that the tray didn't fall on my back, neck. She didn't even see the waitress do it, so how would she know? What ever happened to courtesy? If your looking for it you will not find it at The Taste of Portugal. |

Having dined at Taste of Portugal 4 times in the last 6 weeks, I can only say it is a pleasure to welcome this new establishment.
The service has been attentive, the food hot, fresh & tasty; the music on the weekenda brings back the "cabaret" days of New York; we, and out dining companions have not felt rushed, but very comfortable. |

I will be very surprised if this restaurant makes it in this area. My friends and I were looking forward to an evening of trying something different other than Italian or Chinese Buffet. We walked in and was impressed with the decor. We were seated and it took FOREVER for our waitress to come to our table. We ordered some appetizers and drinks. We also ordered the Paella. The waitress brought everything at once. Upon looking at the amount of paella in the pan we decided to share and requested 3 additional plates so that we all could enjoy dinner. Well, they must have gone to Portugal to get Paella because the fish, the clams, and the mussells were cold, dried up,smelly and old. We brought this to the attention of our waitress and her response--"We had the Chamber here today for a party". What does this have to do with us? I don't know, other than the wait staff was tired (this is not my problem) AND what we got was left over Paella from the Chamber party. When she brought us our bill we noticed that there was an additional charge of $18.00 for the 3 additional plates. The waitress never told us about this charge. When we asked about this she became very snippy and said that it was listed in the menu if we had looked. Now one of those additional plates was for an infant--$6.00 for a 3 year old-- WOW.-- Normally I would have said something to management but I did want to embarrass my quests and I was flabbergasted by the whole event. Our bill totaled $80.00. That old addage of "You get what you pay for" NOT at this restaurant.Save your money and order out pizza. This restaurant is a total disappointment BUT the decor is pretty. |

I went in there with my family and order the seafood combo entree and two appetizers. So, we told the waitress that we share the dinner. Well, the combo entree was like the a jumbo size in pan and good for five people. And we thought that was good and it turns out that the seafood wasn't fresh at all, and it taste like the left over food. At the end, the waitress was charging us for $6.00 per plate for each person to share. So, we spent extra $12.00 to share plus the entree for $18.00, the total was $30.00 dollars. Why they have to make such a jumbo huge portion and not letting people to share? By the way, the waitress didn't tell us anything at all. No matter how nice that restaurant looks or how the server dressed up. I only give them two star, that's because they have nice uniform and nice dinning area inside. I am fair. |
