For Renee, the steak price you were describing is not the regular angus beef but KOBE beef. KOBE beef is very difficult to get and meticulously raised to be finely grained in texture and superbly tender. This is Not your average steak. Because of the type of beef this is reservations must be made in advance to order this fine beef. Another faithful fan of KoKoRo in Palm Coast, FL. |

Excellent!.We have always gone to KoKoRo since their opening day. We have never once been disappointed with anything there. We love sushi, I am from Japan, and this isn't Americanized sushi that lacks tradition. Its real, authentic, and fresh. |

Try it and you will understand what quality food tastes like when presented with class and pride. The owners and employees of this fine establishment understand that there customers are all equally important. Kokoro Sushi Bar and Japanese Bistro is a place relax and enjoy. Everyday is a good day for sushi. (Try the Tuna Fireball !!! ) |

I can't WAIT to go BACK! This was the BEST sushi I have EVER had. The service was superb & atmosphere was pleasant & comfortable. I highly recommend KoKojo to anyone who truly enjoys a great meal & great service. The staff was very informative & patient with all of our questions. I must say though I was shocked to see the price of steak they have $112.00! LMAO I don't think so! We can't wait to go back! |

This place is FANTASTIC! The food is great, the service is great, and the owners are consistently friendly and helpful. My wife and I have eaten there regularly for the past year, and have always had a wonderful experience. The sushi is fresh (all the food is excellent), and if you haven't tried it, may I suggest the Tempura Udon (but be sure to use the hot spice)! |

Finally got the chance to eat dinner at Kokoro's after hearing how great the sushi was there and to my excitement, it lived up to all the hype! The sushi selection was incredible and the sushi was fresh and tasty as I could have imagined. In addition to the quality of the food, the service was excellent. The waiter took his time going thru the menu recommending different items and was very nice and helpful. The female owner came to our table a couple of times to make sure we were happy with our meal. She was very sweet and also helpful.
Suffice to say, I highly recommend Kokoro and will be going back soon! |

We took the advice of others on this board and went to Kokoro for dinner last Friday. It was quite busy but the servers seemed to pace themselves well. The food was very interesting and tasty. I especially loved the sushi and had difficulty deciding which ones to order. There are many I had never heard of before so I will try when I return again. It is a little pricy but worth it as an extravagance every now and then. |

We didn't know this restaurant existed until we saw their ad and visited last weekend. It's a little tucked away around the back of the Palm Harbor shopping center in an area we don't normally go but we're very happy to of found it. The food is excellent and the service is superb. It was a fantastic experience and one we'll definitely be repeating again soon. |

I finally had the opportunity to dine at Kokoro and I wish I hadn't waiting so long. The restaurant itself looks quite simple upon entering, but it's really quite refined and simplistic. Service was prompt and attentive. There were several dishes I wanted to try but I opted for pork medallions you cook at the table with a spicy teriyaki type sauce. The sushi appetizer was also excellent. I will return. |

I love this one dish I always have at KoKoro that is cooked on a volcanic lava rock at the table. It's basically your choice of meat and pairing sauce and is the only dish I've eaten in there and go there specifically when I crave it. Service is always superb and the only thing keeping me going more often and being more adventurous with the food is the price. It's a little too steep for me to go frequently. But that's understandable considering the quality. |

KoKoro is by far one of the greatest dining experience I had. I ordered a few pieces of sashimi and I have say the chef was not stingy (for the price). I've had sushi in other places where the prices were a bit higher with less fish and half the quality. As for the steak, you'll have to see it for yourself because if they dare to let you cook your own steak it has to be grade A. Altogether, food was great and staff are always smiling no matter how many times I asked for help. And most of all, the owner/hostess remember everyone by name and what they like to eat. For the hour that I sat and ate I can't help but notice she knew every single customer as if they were long term friends. |

Along with Thai by Thai, Kokoro is one of the areas top dining options. My only complaint (if you can call it that) is that I find the selection a little limited. Japanese food to me tends to be quite plain at times and I just prefer more spice and flavor with my food. None the less, food here is prepared very well and the service is impeccable. |

OK! So here it is. We have eaten at KoKoro twice in the last month. We enjoyed every minute of the experience and the uniqueness of the dining. Who would have thought that hot lava rocks would offer such a neat way to present and prepare a dinner, and with such excellent results. We get to cook the food the way we like it.... so if you screw it up you have no one to blame but yourself. It is really NEAT! We have had the filet mignon, chicken/shrimp and salmon. All prepared on the hot lava rocks and all were incredible. The service is excellent, civilized, and polite/respectful... encourages one to relax and enjoy the experience. The one common thread that ran through the dining experience was the feeling that the management and wait staff really do care about you. Frankly, it gets old watching the typical flat grill Japanese restaurant "chefs" trying to catch shrimp parts in their chef's hat. I would rather have quality food, unique dining. We plan to return many times with friends and family. |

I am relatively new to Japanese food so can't really compare to other Japanese restaurants or attest to Kokoro's authenticity, however, I can attest to the fact that my wife and I very much enjoyed our experience here. I agree with another reviewer regarding the restaurant's decor. It is very sparse and minimalist but I guess they're trying to put the focus on the food. I would just like to see more Japanese art or wall coverings. For our starters we ordered a selection of sushi which were all beautiful and tasted very fresh. For main courses we played it quite safe for our first visit, I had chicken that arrived on a lava rock where its cooking process is completed at the table, and my wife had the chicken tempura. Both were very good using a minimum amount of flavorings and natural flavors without being bland. The tempura batter was nice and light. Service throughout was excellent. Prices are a little high but it was a worth it for the fresh ingredients and first class service. Kokoro is an asset to Palm Coast and I think many more local establishments can learn from this restaurant. |

Kokoro is quite a delight. The restaurant itself as some mention, is quite stark and simple inside, but the food and service make up for that. Their menu is very interesting and ranges from simplistic to intricate. Our dishes were prepared beautifully with care and passion. Service was very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The manager(owner?) made several visits to our table to answer questions and to make sure we were enjoying our meal. Kokoro is more expensive than most dining options in Palm Coast but it offers class, civility and quality. Those are rare qualities in this area! |

My wife and I dined at Kokoro last night (08-04-07)and the food was superb. We tried the shrimp dumplings, popeye roll, volcano roll, spider roll, and house salad with ginger dressing. Everything was delicious. We went early, about 6:00pm, and sat at the sushi bar. The two chefs were friendly and helpful as was the waitress who brought our salads and wine. Next time we will try the steak cooked on the lava rock. That looked real good! |

I fully agree that this restaurant offers a touch of civility and decorum, however, it is not very exciting. Don't get me wrong, the food here is very good but I just like my food with more "zing". Also, as another mentioned, the decor is dull with its walls plain with no pictures or paintings hanging. Service was very good and the manager greeted us during dinner which was nice. |

Wow!!! Finally a restaurant in Flagler county that has FANTASTIC food,EXCELLENT service, and is EXCEPTIONALLY clean!!!! This was our first Japanese experience and we where both overwhelmed by the food.Everything from the sushi to the really neat volcanic cooking rock looked and tasted so fresh and good.We went on a Saturday night and even though the place was a little busy our service was excellent. Our server Alise was very nice and explained the menu well even though she told us she was a fairly new employee and if she couldn't answer, she would go get her boss who, by the way, went out of her way to stop and check every table and make sure everything was going good. Kudos to this great place which is located in the Publix shopping center. My wife and I will definitely be back. |

Kokoro offers a nice change to the usual local restaurant choices. It's a slow paced restaurant offering most popular Japanese dishes such as sushi, tempura, sashimi, etc. Although it does have quite a nice atmosphere, Kokoro is very sparse and sterile. Its walls are plain with no pictures or decorations. Limited window dressings half cover windows that are in desperate need of cleaning. The food and service, however, are both very good. The sushi is wonderful and most dishes we tried were more flavorful than we expected. One complaint is that our appetizers came out a long time apart and my partner had finished hers before I even received mine. Overall, this is a nice place to relax with good company while enjoying an interesting meal. |

Even though it's another strip mall location, once inside it is a nice civilized and relaxing restaurant. The food here is very good although a little too pricey to visit often. The service was a bit too slow and it's definitely not the type of restaurant to visit when you're in a rush. |

I have visited them twice now and both times the food was good but service was not so good. I visited one time at lunch with a friend of mine and they forgot our salads and brought her the wrong sushi. The next time was dinner with my husband and they forgot our soup and salads again. Never brought the sake my husband had ordered and didn't have the mix for the drink I wanted. The food is a little too pricey to be forgetting stuff and being out of things. They need to get better servers and come down on their prices and it would be a great place. I think we will probably still travel to Ormond or Daytona for our Japanese fix. |

WOW! I've been back to Kokoro a few times since I wrote my last review. I love sushi and that is all I have ordered so far. I am anxious to bring my family to order off the main menu.
On my last visit, Siri recommended the Salmon & Lemon Roll, a delicious roll with fresh salmon, paper thin sliced lemon, and scallion. Very simple and yet extremely tasty and good. Very refreshing. A new favorite for me. In addition to the Salmon & Lemon Roll, I ordered a "Summer Style Roll" which means it is wrapped in tapioca skin instead of the usual seaweed. I like the seaweed and was a little hesitant to try something else but boy am I glad I did! I had the "Macho Man" which contained tuna, eel, smelt roe, and avocado. It was sensational. The tuna was very fresh with a wonderful mild flavor and perfect texture. These two rolls made a very satisfying light lunch for me.
I already have one new roll picked out for my next visit. I also need to find out what the high school guys next to me were ordering. It all looked SO GOOD! One roll had crab meat heaped on top. Yum!
If you aren't sure about eating sushi, I encourage you to talk to the owners and explain what worries you about it. They are sure to find a roll for you that you will love. Or, just order from the regular menu - I am sure the traditional dinners are equally good. |

We love Kokoro. The sushi is the freshest around and they have many different kinds (such as Toro) that you cannot find anywhere! My friend lived in Japan for 14 years and this is the first time since returning to the states that he has tasted sushi comparable to what he enjoyed in Japan. We had friends come up from Miami/South Beach and they also said it was better than anything they get down there.
The owners are very nice and go out of their way to make your dining experience pleasant. I even asked about a dish that wasn't on their menu and the owner said "not a problem" and whipped it right up for me. It was fabulous!
I highly recommend Kokoro. Palm Coast needs this wonderful restaurant. Plus, the owners truly care about giving back to the community. A rare combination. |

Kokoro now has "lava rocks". These are rocks that are heated in the oven, brought to your table with your choice of meat, and are then "flamed". We purchased the filet...this was worth every penny!!! The best filet I have had in a long time. Siri goes out of her way to make sure your dining experience is all that it should be. The owners are striving to make this one of the best restaurants in Flagler County...and succeeding!!! We eat at Kokoro's at least 1-2 times per week and have never been disappointed in any aspect of our dining experience! |

Cute place. Food was good. Servers were nice. However, we felt it was a tad overpriced for what it was. $15 for tempura and a small iceberg salad? Seems a bit much. Also, served my guests food 15 minutes before I got mine, and his was sushi, so we didn't understand that...? |

I am so happy that there is a GOOD sushi place in town now. We used to travel all the way to Fuji Sushi in Orlando for our sushi cravings, and now we are very contented with Kokoro. The dining experience is pleasant, their Sake-tini's can rival any posh NYC sushi bars', and the variety of their signature rolls is wonderful! The owners are so nice--accommodating, sweet, very service-oriented. They know good sushi, and you won't be disappointed! I strongly recommend the unfiltered cold sake--please try this, it's so good! WE loved the Kokoro Special roll--we've never had anything like it, and we've had a lot! Tuna Lovers' tiger roll is excellent. The summer rolls are great too--again, something unique and different--try the Mango de Tango summer roll. I can't wait to go back here! |

Best sushi in town!! We used to travel to Ormond for our sushi.
We tried "Ai" but found there sushi to be small with soup and salad, tasteless.
The new owners at Kokoro make your dining experience informative (they come over to answer any questions you might have) as well as just tasty dishes. The shrimp shumi is to die for! Their sushi rice is moist and so is their avacado. We've had problems with that at other restaurants. The servers are great too!
We love how they renovated the place. New rugs, window treatments and all over decor. Very pleasing on the eye.
As you can see, we highly reccommend Kokoro and am sure you won't be disapointed. We are so glad we can FINALLY support a local restaurant. |

I visited Kokoro recently for lunch and ordered from the sushi menu. I love sushi and am a big fan of AI but, unfortunately, Ai is not open for lunch and my sushi cravings often come at lunch time. I ordered a salmon roll, a caterpillar roll, and eel nigiri. All of the sushi was presented beautifully on different plates. The salmon roll had a little bit of an "off taste" that I can't really identify. It may have been the salmon or it may have been the seaweed. It didn't taste "bad," just "off." I tasted the salmon alone without the rice and seaweed and found that it didn't have much flavor and was not as firm as it should have been. The caterpillar roll was beautiful and quite large (8 slices) but contained minced tuna mixed with mayonnaise, something I didn't realize when I ordered it. It was not very flavorful. The avocado slices draping over the top were the perfect ripeness. The eel was great. I found the sushi menu was lacking in traditional rolls and contained way to many rolls containing fried fillings or mayonnaise mixed fillings. I was told that next time I could make adjustments to the preparation listed on the menu. In addition, the sushi prices are expensive, especially compared to the sushi bar I frequently visit in Jacksonville. My lunch which was simply two rolls, two nigiri, and one cup of green tea was over $20.00 before the tip. The new owners, who obviously aim to please, were very attentive and concerned about everyone's happiness. There were three other couples in the restaurant when I was there and they all seemed very pleased with their meals. All in all, I am thrilled to have a good Japanese restaurant available during lunch time and I will definitely be back and look forward to sampling other items on the menu. |

Took the family one evening for dinner and was overall very pleased. Miso soup and teriyaki shrimp dinner were very good. Salad was so-so. Chicken tempura was also very good. Not quite on a par with Ai Restaurant in town but it does look promising. Staff and service were very pleasant and helpful and willing to accommodate. Those who remember the previous Makoto restaurant at this location will be pleasantly surprised by this new establishment. |
