We were at the Pier Restaurant on Saturday morning and ordered the special. It was really good and our waitress was excellent. The establishment is a bit in need of paint, but that's what makes it old and traditional. They could use a handicap bathroom installed instead of having to go over to the public restrooms next to the pier tackle shop. |

My wife and I and our 2 kids went to eat breakfast after church 2 weeks ago. MY kids were in ccd class and we decided to go to breakfast. I have been in the restaurant business my whole life. If it takes a short order cook 40 minutes to cook pancakes and eggs then they should find new employment. Plus, I think they need to clean the place up a little paint does wonders dark brown doesn't work well. Very dingy and dirty. You will never see me in this establishment ever again. |

I love the location and watching the activity on the Pier as you dine. In the past two weeks I’ve had three great lunch meals at the Flagler Pier Restaurant. My husband and I have enjoyed their soups, sandwiches, entrees and dessert. Personally, I’m loving their clam strips lately more than usual. They are the largest, sweetest clam strips I’ve ever eaten. The best part is they are fried perfectly and therefore not greasy. Their coleslaw is delicious and that just makes a seafood meal for me. I also had a chance to order their liver and onions as a daily special last week. I’ll be ordering that again! It was fabulous and perfectly cooked. The liver was so tender and moist, plus it was topped with very flavorful onions which I liked. For a side dish to accompany the liver I chose Brussels sprouts, and although slightly overcooked, their seasoning and taste was perfect. We always enjoy their key lime pie and find sharing a slice is the perfect ending to a meal. The Flagler Pier Restaurant offers a nice atmosphere and great location, plus the wait staff is personable and efficient. We find their prices fair too. |

My family stopped in for dinner around 5 p.m. One of the waitresses said we could have a seat anywhere, so we chose a table next to the window (of course). The view is to die for and the moon was starting to come up with a rainbow of in the distance. I decided to get the early bird prime rib whcih was good, especially for the price. My daughter had shrimp scampi over linguine, scampi is on the early bird menu but not over linguine but the waitress was kind enough to accommodate. My son had a cheese burger and he said it was good. We didn't even have to ask for refills on our drinks (sodas, even chocolate milk) the waitress was on top of it! My husband had the stuffed flounder with mashed potatoes. He said the flounder was great and a nice sized portion. The mashed potatoes were instant... and you could tell! So don't order those1 Fries were much better. My husband likes to have a few drinks with dinner, Dewar's on the rocks, and he was happy with their size and that they were not watered down... and only $5 each. The four of us ate for under $50. The atmosphere was nice and we will return. Next time for breakfast to watch the sun rise. |

We like this restaurant; we've usually gone for the Tuesday fish fries. Service was good, friendly, environment very casual. They make very good soups (can't speak for the clam chowder) on a regular basis. We will be going again! |

Once you enter, the restaurant has a very low quality air about it and it doesn't fail to live up to that. The service was gruff and the food left a great deal to be desired. I have not visited a restaurant in years where I couldn't get the food down me because of its environment. I just couldn't trust it! I think that the location gets people through the door and it really is a waste of space. This could be a magnificent place with someone running it that cared. |

Vacation time again and we always try the Pier for breakfast only. We like it because you never have to wait in line for a table and most of the time, we can get a table by the window which overlooks the ocean and pier fishing.
It is a hit or miss with the service each year. We usually end up only eating here once during our vacation and opt for Manny's, but the one trip this year was okay. The waitress had somewhat of an attitude with our order and was scarce during our meal, but the food was okay this time around.
I had the pancakes because they were "out" of waffles. They were also out of bacon and we were there pretty early. Go figure. The atmosphere was very hurried and the room itself was cool but muggy cool. They have no handicapped bathrooms which made it very difficult for me to use since I have rheumatoid arthritis and need a handrail. I usually end up "holding it" until we get outside and then I use the bathrooms on the pier.
I would not recommend this restaurant unless you want a quick basic breakfast or a good cup of coffee while watching the early birds fishing on the pier. |

After reading these reviews since I've been thru Flagler Beach--they must have changed hands, cause the food was pretty good back in June of 2000. I, my husband and my cousin had been to St. Aug. for the day and decided to stop and eat dinner at the Flagler Pier Restaurant. I loved the scenery from the windows where we sat and ate our seafood dinner which was really good - back then. But obviously they have had new management, and sometimes that can go either way--good or bad. If you get someone who doesn't have any pride in what they do, then the business will only go down-hill from day one! But if we go down that way again, I'll stop in and check it out and see what everyone's been talking about--before I order anything to eat. If' it's not up to "snuff" as they say, then I'll just go on my merry way on down the road to Daytona Beach. That's my most favorite place to stay over all the beaches on the Atlantic Coast!! And then when I get back home, I'll write my next review on my findings of the Pier Restaurant. |

I went to the Pier after about a year of avoiding it as I decided to give them another chance. BIG MISTAKE!, my first clue should have been when there were no customers, maybe 3 tables. My second clue was the overpriced menu, $16.95 for a shrimp dinner? As usual the service was slow, food not good, dirty and bugs on the windows. I will never go back again! |

I have had the best food this week at the pier restaurant. I enjoy the food because it is simple food at a great price. The cook Doug served generous portions. The decor could be updated but as long as the food is good I could care less. Now that the manager Gary is no longer then, I like the staff, our waitresses were so friendly. |

Having lived in the area for a few years, I know enough to avoid eating at this restaurant. But while waiting for an appointment, I decided to go into the Pier Restaurant for a cup of coffee. The problem arose when I tried to pay my bill. No one was behind the counter. I waited. And waited. Several employees in the adjacent food prep area stepped behind the register counter, but none of them acknowledged my presence. After several minutes, I asked if someone other than the cashier could ring up my bill, but I got no response. Apparently hearing my request, the returning cashier remarked, "What? You in some kind of big hurry?" Taken aback, I listened to her diatribe about how too many people are in too much of a hurry, and she continued playing to the line of people behind me as I walked out the door, raising her voice to ensure that I heard her opinion. I did think about returning and lecturing her about customer service, but I realized it was pointless. Would I stop in for a coffee again? Probably not. The next time I arrive early for an appointment, I'll sit on the boardwalk benches and listen to the sounds of the ocean. It's a much more pleasurable experience. |

I would definitely avoid this restaurant. Anytime we come into town to stay with relatives, this used to be the place to go for breakfast. My aunt and uncle never eat out for breakfast unless they have company. So, a few years ago, we went to the usual haunt. Well, we were shocked to see the uncleanliness, the very poor attitudes from the staff. and the undesirable foods we received. In Georgia, we are used to seeing people happy to attend to you and hoping to get some good tip money. Well, here, you could tell that the staff could care less.
The next year, we decided to see if maybe it was just a bad day that we came. Nope, it happened again and was even a little worse with them almost forgetting that their customers were even there. In Georgia, it is the law to have the latest health rating (that includes the score that was posted last) and lists all of the violations in public view. If it is below a sufficient rating, the place has to close and provide whatever it can to reopen again. I can only imagine what their health rating would entail. I do know one thing ...it would not be passable.
The sad thing... it's right on the beach. I hope that someone offers them a good bit of money and change the name so that we will assume that it is in different hands. |

I haven't been to The Pier Restaurant for many months, simply because I was treated so rudely the last time I was there. As a longtime employee in the food service industry, I have a pretty good idea of how customers are supposed to be treated, and it's not like that, especially when they are good and frequent customers who spend a significant amount of money. I was a frequent lunch customer until then (2-3 times a week). I will never go back, as long as the current people are still running it. The lunchtime manager can take her ten-dollar lunches and stick them where the sun doesn't shine, as far as I'm concerned. It really is a shame, since the location and the view are awesome. On the other hand, and this may come as a surprise, I've never had a bad meal there, but the place sure is lacking in the cleanliness department! |

The only restaurant that is directly on the ocean in Flagler Beach and I find this place a disgrace to the community. I've lived here for 5 yrs. and tried different meals but they were all disgusting. The restaurant is filthy, I don't know where the Health Dept. is. This is definitely a "greasy spoon" with plastic flowers out front ... classy. The managers are as low class as their establishment, which they rent. Should be called Tomane Tavern. |

Too bad such a wonderful location can go to such waste with this poor excuse for a restaurant. |

Reading these reviews I see that Flagler County caters to diners who expect a lot from their restaurants, as well they should. I rate the Pier restaurant with 4 stars simply because I like the atmosphere. The food is just so-so average.
Large plate-glass windows overlook Flagler Beach and the majestic Atlantic Ocean. So there is plenty of ambiance in the early morning light. Our service was prompt and friendly, however a couple at another table seemed perturbed with their waitress. That was not our concern because the smiling woman who served our table was cheerful and always available when we wanted more water or coffee. Our breakfast was what we ordered and what we had expected it to be. Full write-up and pictures on our blog: http://nibbleandsip.blogspot.com |

Went for dinner some time ago (sorry for the late review). Chicken wings came out still frozen in middle, my fish special was ok, spouses stuffed flounder was horrible (taken out of frozen supermarket box, soggy and tasteless). Bottled beer was ok (hard to mess that up). Service was TERRIBLE. Do yourself a favor and pass this place up. |

This place needs so much help. Our waitress was the ONLY redeeming quality. We got fish (atleast that was what we ordered, but we couldn't tell...), and fried shrimp- it was ROCK HARD and burned. We were going to send it back, but decided to just pay and leave. We attempted to give the shrimp to our dog... even she turned up her nose! |

I moved here and could not wait to go to this restaurant. I thought is is a great place to have a restaurant. I walked in took one whiff and wondered why the health department hasn't closed this place down? They really should just charge a sitting fee or let people bring in their own food to see the view. |

The Manager of this restaurant is the most "RUDE" of anyone I have ever met. He is fooling himself, if he thinks that his restaurant will stay in business with this attitude. The view is great; food is terrible; Manager and Cashier are absolutely the worst in this area. Hopefully, someone will buy him out someday to create a nice dining place to enjoy the beauty of the sea. |

Wow, after reading these reviews "ouch!" I have only dined there for breakfast, and honestly coming from a beach town myself in South Florida, I would never think that a "pier" restuarant would have a good meal. However, I know you can't really screw up scrambled eggs, bacon and hashbrowns with toast. The scenery is nice and the breakfast is normal diner breakfast. I will recommend Friends Cafe or Java Hut though just because they are unique to Flagler. Yet, I would eat breakfast here again.....I love sitting oceanside without the wind. We were seated at a window where it felt like we were on the ocean. Staff was nice, it was early and they were tired though. A typical diner that is trying to be more. Don't let it fool you. Picture a truck stop with a view. |

There are two good things I can say about The Pier Restaurant. The first is that it has a great view. The second is that our waitress was friendly, attentive, and did all she could to make us happy, but happiness would play no part in this review...
My company and I placed our orders. First the Peel & Eat Shrimp for my company, and the Cioppino (a seafood stew) for myself.
Ordering sides was entertaining. We would ask for something. Our waitress would make a face. She would scrunch-up her nose, purse her lips, and wait for us to try again. "What’s wrong with the veggies?" we asked. "They’re out of a can", she explained. "OK. How about the mashed potatoes?" Again, she made the face. "What are they, out of a box?", we asked jokingly. "Yeah!", she said. Visibly embarrassed, she recommended a baked potato, which we took without argument.
After a bit of waiting, our waitress rounded the corner to our table to inform my company that her Peel & Eat Shrimp came already peeled... Now, I’ve been to restaurants where you couldn’t get things the way you wanted, but not being able to get something the way they wanted was a new one for me. My company opted for a stuffed flounder in lieu of peelable shrimp.
My company’s salad and bread arrived. My order didn’t include a salad, and thank goodness. It must have been prepared days in advance. Iceberg lettuce, cucumbers, onion, and beefsteak tomato, all wilted at the cut edges, and too cold to be served.
After a half hour or so, our food came out. My guest’s Flounder looked OK, as did my Cioppino. I arranged my bowl and took my first bite. "Crunch, crunch..." With every bite there were grating sounds of sand, or perhaps bits of shell. Curious, I started to dig in the bowl to find the source of the sound.
While I was digging, my company was giving the flounder the once over. "There is no taste!" Perhaps she was coming down with some sinus illness that was affecting her ability to taste. I took a bite, and let’s just say my company’s taste buds were working perfectly. I returned to my little excavation project.
The first thing I noticed was that there were several bits of sea life in my bowl I didn’t recall seeing on the menu. Upon further inspection I found little squid. They couldn’t have been any larger than an inch or so, and they were everywhere. I plucked one from the bowl to give it a closer look.
Squid are very interesting animals. They have many parts to them, most of which you don’t tend to run across during dinner. Generally, squid will be prepared for consumption. There are odd little parts like ink sacks, and venom glands that should be removed in this process. There is also a beak which squid use to eat. This beak is quite rigid and glassy, and rest assured, if your dinner has one, it has not been cleaned.
Now I knew where the "crunch" was coming from.
As my survival instinct began to kick in, we asked for the check, paid, and left. My company went to the rest room, and as if this establishment was issuing a final blow, she was greeted by a cockroach.
The star is an acknowledgement of our waitress’ job well done, for without her, there would be none.

I have gone to breakfast at 7 a.m. many times, but this morning I arrived at about 10:30 a.m. The three people in front of me were waiting for a window table. After they were seated, I told the hostess that I would like a window table. When asked how many in my party, she said "oh, we can not seat a single person at a window table." The tables in the dining room are all for 4-tops, so there are no small tables for two people. This was very discriminating to me as a single person. I will never, ever step foot into the Pier Restaurant again. At least I do not have to put up with the fear of a cockroach in my napkin like I did last spring. |

We went to have a meal at the Flagler Pier Restaurant to check it out. However, we never bothered to stay.
The view was excellent, however from the start we knew this was going to be a flop. The waitress/hostess could not be less welcoming... She cleaned a table for us with a sopping wet rag that left the table not damp, but quite wet and wreaking of mildew.
The entire atmosphere was grungy. The menu seemed to be normal diner fare, which is fine....
However we did not stay as the total ambience and odor were not condusive to enjoying a meal.

The waitresses have always been the greatest in service & attitude.
The food is basically greasy diner food at its worst.
What saves the Pier is the view. Everyone passing by stops in during the day. (Skip the visit at night.)
The Pier owners could be billionaires if they upgraded the menu and the cooking as well as cleaning up this dump. |

The staff on the weekend mornings are very friendly from the hostess to the busser and all the waitresses, the food comes out quickly, but cleanliness of the restaraunt and utensils are under par. Food is nothing special, same specials. |

We have been eating breakfast at the Pier twice a week for over six years. We find the service excellent and friendly. The food has always been good. There is a home like atmosphere about the place with all the "Regulers" chatting and saying good morning to each other.A very pleasent place to start the day |

I love the view but the food has a lot to be desired. Last week I was there for breakfast and a Cockroach crawled out of my napkin that was wrapped around my flatwear. Of course it scared the wits out of me and the napkin, knife, fork & spook went flying to the floor. The waitress apologized and said they have tons of problems with roaches since the tore out an old wall behind a refrigerator. Now I wonder if it is safe to eat there!!! |

Cheap and nasty. Service with an attitude and a waste of a good view. |

Frankie hit the nail on the head. A great location but a lousy place to eat. I had breakfast here once and it was dreadful. The food and service was sloppy. I thought I'd try for dinner one night and it was not any better. |

What a great location to sit and enjoy a meal. Just a pitty they don't have a meal worth enjoying! This restaurant folks is a low end greasy spoon. Sloppy, greasy food and poor service. Well, the view was nice. |
