I like Mad Dog's. To me their food is always pretty good. I LIKE the atmosphere which is kind of Wisconsin-like... rustic! It reminds me of past vacations and fun times.

My husband and I got take out at Mad Dog's while in Flagler on vacation. The grouper sandwich was pretty good with a lot of fish. The fries were greasy though. I would recommend as a take out only.

Had lunch here yesterday - honestly, I do not see what the rave is with this place. Parking lot is a pot-holed, dirt nothing. The inside had a musty odor to it. Seating reminded me of a high school lunchroom atmosphere. I ordered a fried soft-shell crab sandwich with onion rings. The crab was too small for the bun, nothing but skinny legs sticking out the bun - no "meat" at all to it. The onion rings had a skinny onion surrounded by five times the amount of fried bread crumbs. My wife had the crab-cake with fries - better plate than mine but nothing special. Prices were too high for what you get. Do not plan to return at all - big disappointment.

To me this place is uninviting and their bathroom needs a makeover! Nothing special about their menu. But my boyfriend really likes the place.

We love Mad Dog's On the River (first time there), and it won't be our last! Great service and great bartenders on the weekend and the fish is the best in town. "Wow" is all I can say. Lisa and Mark were our bartenders on Saturday night and we had a blast. They are great and trust me on the fish... sit at the bar and you will go home with a smile.

We ate there Friday evening and the food was wonderful. Service is slightly lacking. I had the Scallops and they were cooked to perfection. My partner had the Blackened Tuna and it was very tasty. My friend had the Fish Sandwich and it was as good as she remembered it.

Outside Mad Dog's looks kind of funky, inside it reminds me of the VFW hall....I would have liked some atmosphere!! There is a bar, but only wine and beer is served. The food and service were good, but we were there at 5pm and were the first ones seated for the dinner hour. The jalapeño poppers were a hit with my husband and there was a large shrimp inside. My chicken sandwich had plenty of chicken, but the bun was soggy. I rate it average, because the food was great, the atmosphere dull.

I think that Mad Dog's always has excellent food. I have been there a dozen times. Even when the owner was there! (No loud noises) Nice Hummer. We bring our out-of-town guests when they want a good meal in a casual atmosphere. All of our guests loved it. We have not had a bad meal or a bad server. I guess you can't please everyone! Some are never satisfied! I will be back with my family many times more! Wish they had more seating though. Maybe they can extend upstairs!!!

I Enjoyed a nice and Juicy Piece of prime rib there On Friday Night.I felt they were very Nice and brought everything at a good time.I know some places can't please everyone and I see a lot of good reviews more then bad and from my own personal experience I would refer them. I have eaten at alot of restaurants in Palm coast and feel that they have a problem with there wait staff and at least at Mad Dog's the waitress we had was wonderful and very outgoing and made our experience more pleasant.I will be back there alot more in the future. GOOD LUCK STEELER FANS!

While the bright loud yellow paint on the building attracts your attention, the inside is relatively clean. This very casual restaurant feels more like a diner setup with the vinyl/plastic table cloths and dusty fan blades.

The food is good and tasty, but like all the other seafood restaurants in the area, fried food is always the standard unless you ask for broiled, blackened, etc. Make sure to specify how you want it prepared. The servers won't always ask you. The bathrooms are NOT handicapped accessible in any way! Not sure how they got around this. Must have been grandfathered in.

If you do go here to eat, make sure that the owner(drives a loud yellow hummer) or Manager is not there. Unless you like loud, drunken singing or loud anything. Must be the beers.

I am not sure how this place gets such good reviews. I recently had dinner there and along with having one of the worst waitresses I have ever had the food was just very average for the price. I think that the prices are very high for the atmosphere of this place. The crab cakes were not nearly as good as Barbara Jeans and I think the service really helped my experience to be so awful. The server brought our appetizer and salad after our entrees and never apologized for it either. It took forever to get drink refills and finally to get our check. We will definitely not be back.

I am so sorry that some have had problems with Mad Dogs. We have never had a bad dining expierence there. I feel the food is always excellent and the staff have exceeded the normal service expected Now I do, thing some of the spicy items are made for the individuals who prefers extra spices, like my husband. (smile) The wait staff have always paid special attention in warning us of the spice factor.

This was our first visit to Mad Dog's, it started out to be a great night the waitress was exceptional, however I ordered the grouper lightly blackened and it came out lightly blackened and lightly cooked. The waitress took it back for me and the comment the chef made was that is the way that fish is supposed to be. Well I felt that he was insulting my intelligence, eating fish often when I go out I know it is not suppose to be pink inside. My complaint is that the owner knew about it and never even came to the table to see what he could do for me and my four guests. So I paid for the dinner (16.95) and didn't eat. I will not be back, and if asked I will voice my opinion. Tamara, Palm Coast.

My best friend and I visited with our children for lunch twice in the past two weeks. Through those visits, we sampled the conch fritters, fried shrimp, fried scallops, chicken fingers, creamy blue crab soup, and minorcan conch chowder. Everything was tasty and perfectly cooked. We enjoyed the casual atmosphere and always felt very comfortable eating there. We will continue to visit often!

My first review was when we thought we were eating grouper. I just hope it was. It tasted good for several visits even after the new owner and new much higher price. I know he has to pay for that HUMMER ....
We went back to get the grouper basket at lunch and did not see it on the daily board. We were told they still have the special but can not call it grouper because it is not actually that, rather some other fish with a name I am not so sure I want to remember. They said it is of the same family.
All I know is the time before we ate there it seemed different to the taste and I guess it was....bleek..it was kind of weird tasting but we dicided we should try it again..Needless to say we did not try the weird named fish from who knows where. We left and got a sub at Publiks. We won't be going back to mad dogs.

The yellow of this building is almost painfully bright, but once you notice the Steelers' signs, it all makes sense. From what we learned from one of the regular customers, the owner of Mad Dog's is a huge Steelers fan. The place looks entirely unpretentious, where one would expect a more or less standard fare of seafood favorites. The dining area is clean and comfortable; a place one could relax in. The restaurant serves only beer and wine, so we settle on a pair of Fosters, and proceed to peruse the regular menu and a list of daily specials. We were somewhat surprised to find dishes like pierogies and gyro plate nonchalantly strewn among various sea food items, and struggle to make our selection. The waitress recommends one of the specials, a selection of seafood over penne pasta, and my company opts for that. I decided on blackened flounder, to satiate my craving for spicy food. We decided to share a pair of appetizers, home made pierogies and jalapeño poppers.

There is something to be said for good casual dining. The atmosphere was so relaxed we forgot that we were working, and digressed into regular conversation. The appearance of our appetizers on the table interrupted our little break. The pierogies were outstanding and we both had a few. The jalapeño poppers were very spicy, yet the most interesting ones I have ever had. Inside each was a shrimp, which took the edge off the rather large amounts of jalapeno pepper. For anyone who truly likes spicy food, they are absolutely delicious. Dinner salads arrived, and were fresh and full of baby greens. So far the meals were utterly enjoyable, and we hoped that the entrees would not disappoint. They didn't. Both were fabulous, though I must say that blackened in this place means really blackened, and unless you really love your food hot, ask for lightly blackened, an option I was offered by our waitress but declined. The portions were quite generous. We took our time, as no one seem to rush us through our meal, enjoying every bite. While we had absolutely no room left for dessert, lava cake sounded really appealing, and we agreed to share a slice. The cake was superb, with warm chocolate center, and almost flourless on the outside, it was definitely the perfect finish to a great meal. While this restaurant is not a place to take a date for a night of fine dining, for a great casual meal, this place is as good as it gets. In too many casual places, the food is sub-par, and this restaurant is definitely a notable exception.

My wife and I went to eat there last Tuesday and we both had crab legs. The food, and the service was excellent. The new owners have done a great job of turning this place around, even with funny name. Keep up the good work, we need more good restaurants like this one and not just beer bars in the area.

Mad dog's is a great restaurant to dine at. I've ate their many times with my husband and kids. GREAT service, environment, and especially the food. Very Happy. Our server was very nice and insisted on the grouper basket because it was nicely priced and a favorite to many. I loved it. I WOULD RECOMMEND MAD DOG'S TO EVERYONE.

We ate there two times a week for lunch and had the grouper with fries and a drink for $4.99 . Loved it every time, and the service was fantastick. The low carb special daily was always different and worth getting too. Now they have new owners and new severs and new prices. No low carb special....The grouper went up to $7.50 but is still great. The service is not as great. It used to be filled with local workers at lunch time and they had to have fast food cheap. I don't see so many workers there now since the higher prices. I wonder where they eat?
