I can't comment on the food because the two times I went there I was never served. Well, actually I was served up a plate of absolute rudeness.
The first time I was completely ignored. The servers (eh hem) actually refused to make eye contact with me & kept bustling around acting like they were too busy to notice me. Since I wanted something to go I thought that perhaps I was standing in the wrong spot so I moved around the counter & said "Excuse me." They actually walked into the back room! I left. It wasn't crowded or busy at the time. I chalked it up to young & inexperienced so I decided to try again a few months later.
The second time was even worse! The two young ladies behind the counter actually argued over who should attend to me!!! Neither one of them wanted to help me!!! It's not like I'm some deranged, toothless, smelly homeless person. Even if I was there is absolutely NO excuse to refuse to help a potential customer! One of them was holding a container of mayonnaise & said to the other "I can't take care of her I have to put this away." The other grabbed it out of her hands & said "No, I'll put it away, YOU wait on her!" They both struggled with the container, one won the battle, the other stalked away in the opposite direction!!! Patrons sitting at the table were mystified. One lady said to me as I began to storm out, "Don't take it personally. They're like that with most people who are not regulars."
So that seems to be the key. You have to be a regular to get service. Of course I will never become a regular there because not only will I never go back, but I refuse to join such a snobbish "club" over a bagel.
And I subscribe to the adage: Bad news travels fast. |

I was very disappointed with the rude attitude of the staff here and their lack of enthusiasm. I visited to order a sandwich and salad to take out for lunch and was treated like a huge inconvenience. This was the last time I give a dime of my hard earned money over to them! |

I can say one thing about the sub base, It's GREAT! I love flavored cream cheese and I know I can get it there. The Subs are GREAT ! I've just finished eating a pastrami sub and I was in heaven! |

Great breakfast bagels! Very filling. The coffee is pretty cheap and tastes a lot better than Denny's. |

The place would be good if the servers didn't act like they are doing you a favor by serving you. With so many complaints about this you would think it would change. Obviously the owners do not care for my business. I only give them one star because the bagels aren't too bad. |

I love their breakfast bagel sandwiches! And I like that they offer tables outside so I can smoke while I have my coffee. |

Yuk! What a mess of a place. Service is poor and quality of food has really dropped. Service is very slow and they act like you own them. Prices are fair... if you got the right food... avoid this place. |

This place has poor serivce and the food is only average. You feel as if you are a bother rather than a customer providing them with their income. I have seen poor handling of food... I won't be coming here until it alot of magical changes occur. |

The food wasn't bad, but I saw one of the "cooks" outside smoking and then 5 minutes later he was in the kitchen making my sandwich without gloves on!! The girls working outside of the kitchen wear gloves, but both people actually doing the cooking were not wearing gloves. It really grossed me out. |

Even though the prices are good, always busy, etc. I think we can assume that the reason that the employees are never friendly is because the way they are treated by the owner. You may have great this, or good that, but, if you mistreat, or disrespect your help, I'll never come back to your business. And why, when they are busy, is it only one persons place to wait on the tables (owner)? I will no longer support that type of greed, and disrespect! |

I like their salads and their subs are OK but not as good as A&L or Subway. The only thing that always gets me in this place is the staff, they're just not very friendly or welcoming. |

If you are not in a hurry, The Sub Shop is great.we go for brakfast at least once a week..The only problem is that Ro is the only one who can take your order hence wou will wait . |

My wife and I visited Palm Coast the weekend of 7/23 to go house shopping. We came across the Sub Base and Bagel Place, and decided to stop in for a bite to eat.
The service was friendly, and the food was very tasty. We're looking forward to trying their big breakfast menu once we move to Palm Coast.

my wife and I have eaten at the Sub Base every week for breakfast for the thirteen years we have lived in Palm Coast. Not only do they serve the best egg breakfast in town at very reasonable prices, they do it with a cheery attitude of friends. Danny and Rose have become part of our extended Palm Coast "family" over the years, and the girls that they employ not only serve well, they provide us with youthful energy and entertainment. This is a busy place, and it is not by accident. When you have a good product, friendly service, and good prices, you build a repeat clientele forever. That is what Dan and Rose have done. |

I have been a customer of the "Sub Base" for about two years now, and I'll have to say that it is one of my favorite places in Palm Coast to eat. Breakfast or lunch. The food is delicoius and the portions are plentyful. I've seen alot of faces come and go over these past two years, and I must complement the owners on all the fresh faces. They all work so well together, and beleive me I know what I'm talking about! I owned a little dinner for 17years. They do pack alot of people in there, so follow the masses I say!! Definetly give it a try! |

These people who rate this restaurant badly are obviously prima donnas who must think that the operation of any establishment should immediately stop, ignor other customers and serve their needs before anyone else. I eat here every single day and I often see rude people demanding attention before anyone else. This is a very busy restaurant. From my point of view the staff makes an excellent effort to serve customers in the order in which they come in. First come , first served. The staff is friendly and efficient and if it wasn't, I would not keep coming back. The daily crowds bear witness to this. The food is awesome. The menu selection is broad and varied and I have not had anything that I thought was inferior. The omelets, pancakes, soups and subs are simply fantastic. My own personal favorite is the Greek salad, which is so huge that I find it impossible to finish at one sitting. (All their salads are phenomenal) So if you want to believe a few vindictive, impatient persons who get insulted because the world doesnt stop for them, you will be missing out on a delightful experience. I'd like to say that the Sub Base is Palm Coast's best kept secret, but after seeing the business this place does, its definitely no secret. I think they've been open since 1989. If they were as bad as those people proclaim, the place would have been long out of business, like so many other businesses that have come and gone. |

I eat breakfast there a lot on the weekends and think they have the best omlets in town (truly), theres always nice big portions and I never leave hungry. Its well worth the money. I will add that the restaurant always looks nice and clean, thats a plus in my book. |

I'm pretty sure Marie was fired, and the usual waitress during the week, Row, is wonderful. She is always smiling and never forgets what I eat. She already knows my order before I even sit down! The store is really pretty clean and the subs are so good! I can hardly finish a 6-inch there, when I can down a whole foot long at Subway. They really put a lot of meat in there, and it's Boar's Head too. You can't get a better breakfast anywhere else either. Huge omelets and really good bagels. |

This is without a doubt the worst service I have ever received, not only in a restaurant, but anywhere! I cannot understand why customers put up with the apaulling service. The food and prices are not worth it! |

If you like being treated poorly and like being spoken to in a rude manner by an extremely obnoxious and totally unprofessional waitress (Marie), then this place is for you! One word of advice if you do go there... do not order your food and expect to eat it at a table unless you went through the waitress first! She will abuse and try to humiliate you in front of everone in there. |
